Big 3 all seem to be injured going into the US Open. Is there a big potential for an upset?

Shapovalov at 40-1 looking ggggggggggggggiggity.

Fed won't play, so not sure why he's even being mentioned. Nadal might also skip but he's a QF exit at best.

Novak could of course have a 2014 repeat. All eyes on Med/Tsit/Zverev.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me. No one has even defended the USO since Federer in 2008.
I wish Rafa had went last year to try and defend his 2019 uso. With racket tosser and linesman hitting djoker neing DQd he prob could have won it.

Yup. Novak Djokovic’s bid for the CYGS and undisputed GOAThood shall come crashing down faster than you can shout “lineswoman’s throat”.

And I, for one, am gleefully looking forward to it.

Tell me how you felt after the RG semi final? Tears wouldve been shed i bet ;)

djoker is lucky the entire tour is trash right now. he's nowhere near his best level but he doesn't have to be. fed and rafa are done and the young guys just aren't that good.
You giving up on your man that easily? Glory hunters you lot.

Fed and Rafa are the only ones clearly injured.
Djoker is on the beach smiling. Recharging the batteries. He will be just fine. Nina too.

Do people genuinely believe that Djokovic has been injured at any point this year?

Fed = 18 months out and unable to complete a tournament.
Nadal = skipped Wimbledon, Tokyo and just pulled out of Cincinnati.
Djokovic = claimed injuries when down in matches or after embarrassing losses. Didn’t play Olympics mixed bronze medal match, but I’m not sure the risk of further injury to his ego really counts.

And then you will cry "weak era" and "mug gen" if he does it. We've been down that road a milion times.

We have zero reason to assume there's anything significantly wrong with Novak other than exhaustion. Going into New York with no warm up event is for sure a strange decision, but on hard courts over best of five? He'll have plenty of time to find his feet. The gap between him and everyone else is so large there doesn't seem to be much reason to write him off yet

Once thing is for certain. He will be fresh.

It's fairly open, and as noted, the USO has been the most unpredictable of the majors.

Right now, I'd put Djokovic as the favorite, but do not see him as prohibitive...if betting dispassionately, I would take the field.

Zverev seems like the second favorite, probably followed by Med - or Rafa, if fit. There are others who would be mild surprises to win it, but I wouldn't write them off completely.
