Big 3 Peak for peak, Federer is the best...

Let's put peak Sampras aside for one moment...

Peak Federer is a greater player to me than any other player in the open era. He has everything. Great technique, power, skill, movement and footwork. World class volleys. One of the top 5 serves ever...maybe top 3 for me. Arrogant enough to win as much as he did. Yet he is also quite level headed.

He is just more balanced tennis wise compared to Nadal and Djokovic, which both has more weaknesses throughout their careers.

Me too. Fed is an absolute mess mentally. The worst of the Big 3 by far.
Good enough to bag 20 slams though so not too shabby. I'd take Novak though just bc of versatility. His peak can take out anyone on any surface. Peak Fed still cant take out Rafa on clay.

Djok still hasn't taken out a well playing Rafa at RG. So no, peak Novak can't take out everyone on any surface.

He is unproven vs less than 32 year old Fed on grass too.

Fed has the most beautiful game in general. If my life was on the line though I'd have to go with Novak.
I'd rather take 4 hours of beautiful tennis... and simply accept the inevitable choke and prepare for eternity in the grass section with 1HBH, gorgeous slices, Pimm's and strawberries, no shirt ripping.

The HC 2HBH option; Jimbo telling stories about how bad ass he was in his youth, crystal meth for lunch, naps in eggs and Wilander making predictions in pants with too high waist.

Agree for the most part, just not sure about the comment of Fed having the top 3 or 5 serve ever though. Possibly top 10, but I would‘nt go as far as saying top 3. Hate to say it....Sampras yes, but not the Maestro.

All the Big 3 ate fighters, but Fed is the worst at crossing the finish line.
We are talking peak here...not moments of weakness. Yes, Federer had his terrible moments. But overall? I'd say Federer fares better than what Djokovic did when he showed his "mental side" with Pepe in his corner. It really showed that Djokovic can be a real loose cannon. Federer never really "lost it" as much as Djokovic has...

To me his peak serve is similar to Sampras when it comes to disguise, accuracy and variation. For a career, I'd take Federer's serve over let's say Roddick's, Isner's and Cilic.

Fedr has the highest cumulative slam peak, Nadl has the highest single surface/tournament peak, Djoel has the highest total peak including masters.

Good analysis, but if Djokovic didn't have on any surface/tournament a higher peak than Nadal on clay/RG, it follows that Nadal at RG has the highest peak ever.
