Big 3 slam final losses to other players

Good point with Murray. Djoko being the most vulnerable against non big three (while simultaneously being very good against the other two at the same time) definitely played into his cards. Had he had to face prime Fed 10 times in slams instead of Djokovic it may well have gone 0-10 instead of 2-8.

It def would be 0-8 in slams, Fed was without a coach for some time because he was so far above the field that he could afford that, in such an environment Murray ain't the guy to inflict a defeat if aged same because he is just lacking any real weapons or timing vs Federer to settle into a game to inflict Damage. Roger would have murdered his career in such a scenario and we would be talking of Murray like we talk of Berdych/Davydenko instead of this great 3 slam winner who won like 46 titles.

shawn-michaels-entrance.gif

The bad part is that the first three sets he did lose to him, all came in the AO 2014 final...

Fedal “feel” like the better players in the big 3 at their best. Djokovic has the longevity and more steady, consistent level.
This exactly. It is undisputed fact that i have been saying for years and got called a troll for. 2010-2014 was the pivotal point for the Big 3 era really

no, it tells that nole had very high base level that he could make he final even when he was long from his best! when he won his 24th slam he won 1/3 of all slams that he participate and he made the final at 1/2. rafa, at the other hand lost 4 years in a row to 100+ ranked players at W. and first 2 was in his so called "era". so nole who is long from his best are in final anyway and play with some hot player when fed and rafa who are not in their best form (or has super easy draw) lose earlier much more than nole did!

I thought you were a Djokovic fan?

It looks like Djokovic likes to lose more than once to the same player affirming that it was not a one off bad day.

I hope he doesn’t lose to Medvedev a second time .

Clearly it proves one more thing we all know - the peaks of Fedal are better than the peak of Djokovic

In a final, Fedal always brought their best while Novak could that well in only 2018-23
What has been proven beyond any doubt since the FO final is the GOAT debate is not and never has been solely about numbers. If it was Sinner and Alcaraz wouldn't be being hailed as being greater than the Big 3 peak level wise.
Peak v peak v peak v peak v peak at slam level at least, there now is enough data to perhaps rank the 5 greatest players this century in the following order so far:

1. Nadal
2. Alcaraz
3. Federer
4. Sinner
5. Djokovic

Nadal v Alcaraz is wafer thin margins and many may have Alcaraz top of the pile, indeed many pundits currently do.

Oh, so you can make slams finals despite not playing your best tennis, now. I thought making a slam final was the mark of being in good form and playing well and losing the final is therefore nothing to do with you but your opponent simply being better.

I guess it'll change next week anyway.

And yet, Djokovic's winning % at the slams are higher than Federer at every slam, and higher than Nadal at 3 of 4 slams!!!

As I showed a long time ago, Djokovic's move along a typical slam path was second to Borg, and way more than either Federer or Nadal!

Djokovic: matches=440, slams=78, 440/78=5.64
Federer: 429/81=5.30
Nadal=358/68=5.26

5.67 represents two-third of the way past the QF; 5.33 represents one-third.

Yeah, had nothing to do with timing...

Inb4 the hypotheicals of thinking Fed not losing to those players even once :p

Fed is 12-2 against Stan and Murray in slams, with 0 of those meetings occurring during Fed's career best stretch (2004-2007) where he had one of the most dominant slam runs in Open Era. Sole Murray win came in 2013 which was one of Fed's very worst career years (and it still took 5 sets), sole slam win for Stan came against a 33-34 year old Fed at FO.

Are those facts mentioned above or was I speaking in hypotheticals?

The way hypothetical Fed meme is thrown around with such abandon these days, you'd think the dude won 2 slams instead of 20.

If your opponent is not an ATG and you have to bet on a winner then nobody beats more ruthlessly than Federer in his prime. Nadal was pretty deadly too vs non ATG players but Federer was ruthless, it took a really great performance to take him down.

Yeah, Fed's style of tennis was just better at snuffing out those near-elite players without allowing them to get their teeth into the match.

Conversely, Novak was plain better at playing Nadal because of his amazing 2HBH and aggressive 2nd serve return.

Styles makes fights in tennis, it's the way it goes in most individual sports.

This is also the reason why I always say that Murray born in 1981 wins 0 in Fed's prime years, because that is how it is. There shall not be any surprise wins like how they were for Wawrinka or Murray under Novak's watch, when it comes to Federer the door is just shut and you win 0. Del Potro and Safin played truly great to win those 2 slams because thats how high the standards are.

Very likely true.

Nadal won all 19 wins over Wawrinka in straight sets. A few of Federer's wins over Wawrinka were close ones (think 2013 Indian Wells, or 2014 YEC), or 4-setters in majors (2014 Wimbledon, 2019 French Open) and even a 5-setter at the 2017 Australian Open.

You're ignoring the age factor here (as you often do when it comes to any Fed-Nadal comparison) and Stan did beat Nadal in a slam final.

It's debatable who between Fedal was a tougher match-up for Stan.

still. peak nole beat peak rafa in 7 consecutive big finals on all surfaces inclusive 3 at slams! rafa, who did not have his own era, had his best years in 08-13 period that according to his fans was his era. his best season was 2010 and next best was 2013! and 2011 would be his best season if not for nole (he lost 6 big finals to him that season inclusive 2 slams)! so in the middle of rafas best period (10-13) nole won 7 consecutive matches in 7 big finals! noles first era and his best period was 11-RG16. so 11-13 is the period that both was on their peak!

Facts are false? Hahaha
What facts are you talking about? These are facts,

AO - Djokovic: .908, Federer: .872, Nadal: .828
RG - Nadal: .966, Djokovic: .856, Federer: .811
WB - Djokovic: .890, Federer: .882, Nadal: .829
US - Djokovic: .865, Federer: .864, Nadal: .848

It just means that when Djokovic lost, it was in the last rounds of a slam tournament. In contrast, when Federer or Nadal lost, it tended to be earlier!

During Federer's best years '04-07, Murray was 17-20, kind of under-aged. Stan was just 2 years older!

You know why Federer was so dominant? Because he had no rivals, like Nadal or Djokovic! Just look at period '11+, no slams between '11 until Djokovic's injury in '16!

Nadals era was 2005-2022. He was the alpha for 17 straight years.
Djokovic had one year in his career where he was better than his main rivals. But he couldn't maintain it.

Peak level of play most professionals seem to infernhe is below the Big 4 this century of Fedal.and Sinneraz.

Yeah, pretty crap from Nadal.
As usual, you gloss over the fact that Nadal has 2/3s of his slams at one slam on clay where he is admittedly amazing.

But Federer leads Nadal at all three of the other slams and Djokovic leads at 2 and is tied in wins at one. Nadal lost at slams early a lot more than the other two except his pet slam.

Clay court skew is alive and well with Nadal not being able to beat Djokovic off clay since 2013 and Federer 2014, very embarrassing stats for a player you think is greatest of all time.

As for 'copium,' I believe you protest too much as I see almost none from Djokovic fans as he is clearly the GOAT according to the vast majority of commentators.

Boy, can I have some of what you are smoking? It must be a great hallucinogen to determine Nadal was better than Nadal when he could not even win a single ATP final, or beat Djokovic off clay since 2013 or Federer since 2014. Very embarrassing stats for a supposed GOAT candidate.

of course he was the alpha for 17 straight years when he was whole 5 times YE#1 and spend astonishing 209 weeks (apr 4 years) at #1! that's almost 24% of the time.

while nole, who was better just one year than his main rivals, has positive h2h vs them, 8 season as YE#1 (despite stolen 2022) and 209+209+10=428 weeks at #1, despite 22 frozen and many other stolen weeks at #1. and, of course, he owns ALL main tennis records. additionally he is greater in ALL tiers of big tournaments than his main rivals (slams, WTF, OG and masters)!

Tennis didn't start in 2013. I get Nadal was a beast in his prime but trying to whitewash his prime years from history is a bit of an unfair handicap lmao. Nice try though

Slams and Olympics are the main events. Nadal, like Alcaraz now, wasn't that bothered about smaller events. Consistency isn't their priority. Peaking when it matters is. 2005-2022 nobody did it better. Nadals 1st slam to last slam. That's his era.

both fed and nole are greater than rafa at 3 out of 4 slams. and much greater on 2 out of 3 surfaces + indoor!

nole and rafa has same titles at USO but nole has way more finals and better W%. rafa has better h2h but his last win at USO13 was also the last time he won a set vs nole at HC. 0-9 in HC matches and 0-19 in HC sets vs nole since then. and that despite noles DQ and ban.

22 out of 30 finals, great conversion by Rafa.
2006 wimby - rookie finalist
2007 wimby - prime federer
2011 wimby - prime novak
2011 USO - prime novak
2012 AO - should lost by 4, but his spirit dragged it to 5th
2014 AO - injured
2017 AO - federer neo-backhand
2019 AO - clear cut loss.

still nole is greater player in both slams and OG than both rafa and fed and raz as for now!
Margaret Court is the leader of slams in women's game, she is not GOAT.
Djokovic is the most successful no.3 of all time. He is often nicknamed Thirdwheelovic I've seen on X and Facebook .

This stat is crazy.

Its absurd and just shows that Djokovic is the most versatile player of all time, and called Mr Grand Slam for a reason. Most slam titles, most slam finals, most slam semis, most slam quarters, he jut got 100 wins at RG, 3 wins from a 100 at W and 1 win away from 100 at AO.

and all that despite fixt draws in first half of his career and DQ, deportation, cancelation and ban from 4 slams there he was huge favorite in the second part of his career!

Ultimately, the right player won the race in the end. Djokovic was too darn consistent to be denied.

He is 11 months older than Djokovic. Nice try.
Exactly. Thank you for proving my point. Nadal was ahead of Djokovic their entire playing careers. Thats my whole point. Nadal is definitely greater than Djokovic, that is undeniable. Cannot say Nadal is GOAT now Alcaraz is around and it does seem Federer is still in the discussion as well. Sinner if he wins Wimbledon this year definitely joins the discussion.

Thanks for confirming that they were of the same age since 11 months separation is nothing. Nadal was mainly able to win at RG and never at the YEC and never able to beat Djokovic off clay (and often loss on clay) since 2013 even though they are the same age, this is the reason that almost no one (including himself) considers him the GOAT.

Nobody cares about the YEC. It is and always has been a glorified exhibition event to satisfy the corporates. No player ever cites it as a priority in their career to win.

Tennis didnt start in 2013. There are no bonus points for post 2013 lmao.

Nadal cared about YE Championships and in a lot of ways it was the hardest tournament because you are playing the best of the best. But Nadal needed to win on clay by and large especially after 2010 unless he got a sweetheart draw. You do not get those in the YEC and it was 7>6>>>>>>>>>>0. Embarrassing!

I never said that tennis started after 2013, but it is utterly amazing to think you believe Nadal is the GOAT when he cannot beat his two rivals except on his precious clay for almost a decade.

That is embarrassing also!

Nadal and alcaraz don't care about YEC...whenever Nadal could get away skipping it he did. There are other players who look for ways to not play over the years.

As for sweetheart draws the irony of that comment from a Djokovic fan is brilliant. By your own argument Djokovic is 3rd of his era , you literally admit that due to sweetheart draws!! Post 2019 Djokovics entire Slam wins were sweetheart draws. I cannot believe you cannot see the irony

Djokovic won on all surfaces including going through Nadal on RG. And sure he had sweetheart draws sometimes. My point which you missed is that Nadal's skewed clay on slams and Masters 1000s meant that when he won elsewhere at. US Open or in 2022 at AO he had to have help such as injured or absent Djokovic.

May I suggest that you take a logic course or read Logic for Idiots type book. It might make your reasoning better.

Djok also won 12 slams from age 31-36... 6 seasons...

What happened to that "greatness" from 2007 - 2014?

I'll tell you, he couldn't feast on clowns like he did especially during vast majority of 2021-2023 ...

Djok won slams on all surfaces... but it took him till age 28 to do it...

Nadal did that by age 24... including beating Federer on grass and Djok on HC in slam finals...

Djok never beat Nadal on clay in a slam final...

Djok got sweetheart draws from pretty much 2021-2023 mostly because the field was a cesspool...
