Big Ace, Blue Gear, or Pro Red Code?????

I was wondering your opinions on these 3 strings:
Pro Supex Blue Gear
Pro Supex Big Ace
Tecnifibre Pro Red Code

Im deciding between these three. What is your favorite and why?

I dont know much about tecnifibre pro red code can you tell me about it?

Personally out these options i'd say Pro Supex Blue Gear as i prefer the stiffness. Although over all i personally prefer Big Banger ALU.

I ran two Prestige mids with Blue Gear and Big Ace. Spin about the same, Big Ace had a lot better feel (BG felt boardy). I think my stringer used Red Code to replace a Big Ace job that snapped - can't even remember how it played like.

I use Hex 1.10 in two of my AG100 frames. The more open string pattern is considered better for generating spin. I started with 1.18 but then moved to 1.10, which gives me extra spin and lasts about 12 hrs. play without breaking (goes dead first). I prefer it to BA, but I haven't tried BA Micro for a direct comparison - and won't be doing so anytime soon, I have two Hex 1.10 reels to use up first!

and big ace off and on
i like blue gear because i like the stiffer feel if it wasn't for that id be all over big ace

Overall the Big Ace. Red Code is not good at all and the price is hefty. BUt if you like a stiffer string than you might like Blue Gear.

Red Code IMO is a good string, and has a crisp, solid feel to it when it is hit, rather than the Big Ace which has nice feel in the beggining of its life, but then gets mushy really fast and then feels dead.

Blue Gear gave me a lot of spin potential, giving me big topspin shots, but it was harder to generate flatter balls when needed. It also felt poor at the net, because there is simply no feel. It's like a board.


For groundies, I liked hitting with the Red Code the most, because of its crispness and balanced power and spin. I could flatten winners out.

For serves, the Blue Gear gave my slice and kick serves a lot of action, but my flat serves were a bit off. I was most impressed with the Red Code in this category.

At the net, it goes to either the Red Code or Big Ace. The Big Ace gave me some touch and feel up at the net, while the Red Code was very crisp and solid.

Spinwise- Blue Gear

Feel- Big Ace (At first, but then dies out and turns mushy)

Power- Big Ace/Red Code

Comfort- Big Ace

Pricewise- Big Ace

Performancewise- Red Code



I occasionally use Pro Supex, but my main strings are Red Code, SPPP or Hurricane Tour.


*Red Code hybrided with Gosen is a great combo.

I found BA to be the most powerful mushy string I have ever tried. More so than nat. gut or the softest multi.
Blue Gear has really nice spin, and bite on the ball and control is good too. I really can't say anything bad about it, just not absoutely the one for me.
Red Code is overall a great string. Nice power, excellent control, great spin, and lasts as well as any other poly out there. It is def. in my top 3 poly's.

curious to ask what tension you used Red Code at? i've tried it at least 6 times now and cant seem to make it work.

I use Red Code at 59 or 60 in the mains with Spiral Flex crosses at 61-63. Hope that helps.

pro red code is my favorite string, but i break it in 5 hours

i've used a bg/ba hybrid a coupe times and it played real nice. Plenty of pop and spin

If stringing yourself, Blue Gear is the nightmare. Soft feel/power, go to Red Code.
I prefer Big Ace, try the thinner gauge to get more balance on performance, if durability is not a concern.

its a big help ive done it with full jobs
at 51/53/55/57 and the last few were hybrids

Glad is helps. I find Red Code is at it's best at a bit higher tensions. Anything below 58 and it just doesn't feel right to me. Seems like it bites the ball better with more tension but maybe it's just me. I like higher tensions and can't play with lower tension.
