BIG NEWS: The New Name Of The Wilson 2010 Racket Line!!!

If they were exactly the same, very few people would switch just to have a new ugly paintjob.

Of course. It'll be a whole new racquet. For me it's about two things: how they distribute the mass in the frame and how it flexes. The PS85 nailed it on both counts. The rest of the Tour models flopped in one or the other category.

flopped ? how ? Not head light enough, perhaps ?

The Tour 90 nailed the mass distribution. It was just like the 85. The problem was in feel and flex. The N90 I never hit with. The K90 put the mass at the ends of the racquet. Some people like this. I don't. All the Pro Staffs are head light enough IMO.

We'll see. I'm eagerly awaiting the report from tofu.

Tour90 was a GREAT racket. had it all. but for some the mass is little too much to handle over a long 3 set matches.

No, it's 12 pts HL UNSTRUNG, just like the K90 and nCode 90. Manufacturer specs are usually unstrung since they don't know what kind of strings you're going to put in the frame. The specs printed on the frame are for the frame itself only.

the reason i asked is because he stated the strung balance point of 8pts for the k factor, and then stated 12pts for the BLX

Hmm... take off the leather grip and you have a racquet very similar to the k90.

Thanks for the info btw :)

I'm sure he was just reading the specs off of the marketing placard in the hoop or the spec sticker on the frame for the BLX90.

He stated earlier that the mains specs were the same as for the K90 for weight, balance, beam width, tension range, and string pattern. There's no way Wilson would make a Tour 90 that was 12 pts HL strung as that would be 15 pts HL unstrung and would get pushed around from the baseline.

Huh? No, you wouldn't. Taking the leather grip off would give you a racquet with an even lower swingweight, and it's already much lower than the K90 even with the leather grip on. It would also make the balance less headlight and the static weight lighter than the K90. Lastly, the Basalt fibers will still be in the BLX90, leather grip or not, and that should make the BLX90 feel flexier than the K90.

Holy Moses, Wilson finally listened to me. Lower swingweight for the new Federer racket. maybe this racket has promise even in the Doubles court...:)

More importantly, what we need to know is if there will be an "Asian" version of this racquet? :)

Amen to that. I finally got my AK90 to feel just right with 10g of lead around 10 and 2 positions. Nice solid feeling of the K90 but with the ability to whip through the ball better and flick back really wide balls, not to mention quicker reactions around the net.

I just like the fact that with the Asian version you get the same general feel of the racquet but have the ability to customize it more.

Being an American, I just had to look up what Bollocks meant on Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollocks

I dont know what's more funny.

What it says it means in the first sentence, or that it's used as a term for "nonsense".

(imagine that... a nonsense idea that's named after something that subjectively means "nonsense".)

If anyone else on the earth doesn't know what bollocks means, they'll get a good laugh. (unless maybe they are a shill for Wilson and they are getting paid in sacks of money to only sell Wilson products and they have to try to unload this "bollocks"....sorry!!!)

Nice! I would launch marketing campaign: "Play tennis with bollocks" or "You need bollocks in order to win!" :D

NEW Wilson UK marketing campaign:

"Wilson BLX Rackets are the Dogs Bollocks"

(Look that up on wiki:))

I wonder if there will be a lighter, asian BLX tour 90 available. Sorry if this was answered in previous posts.

I couldn't agree with you more, Peter. :)

I'm hoping that the lower swingweight of the BKX90 will make it swing closer to the AK90, which I estimate to be around 323 or 324. I also find the AK90 to be a hair flexier than the US K90 so this BLX90 with a flex spec of 1 or 2 points flexier than the US K90 may have a similar flex to the AK90. Anyway, can't wait to try it out to compare. :)

As someone mentioned earlier, perhaps this is Wilson's response to Mats Wilander who has accused Federer of not having enough "balls" when he plays against Nadal.

Now Federer will have plenty of balls and will even have Nadal's balls in his hand. LOL

We need a pole. How many suckers are gonna go blow wads of cash cause Wilson has some new marketing and paintjobs coming out?

and the best is....this it is not new technology - Basalt was the basics for Fischer and their 'Black Granite' line some 18-months ago...

Well, I think a poll would work better than a "pole". :)

But the poll should be how many people are going to blow wads of cash because the new BLX90 feels and plays better than the K90?

Ah, that's where I remember it from. I remember looking up basalt fibers earlier this year, but I couldn't remember why.

There are several products on the market with basalt fibers.
Not in tennis racquets (except for the Fischer Black Granite).

That's like saying that there were several products with wood or carbon fiber before they were used in tennis racquets.

This is strung w/ NXT FYI. All measurements done on my local shops RDC machine.

the new line just makes me want to go out there and buy several more KPS88s while stocks last.

I don't think there is any intention by Wilson to replace the KPS88 with a new model. It was released separately and much more recently than the K Factor line and it's more of a 'classic' frame that I think they'll probably change less often.
