Big Solinco string test!

OK... I'm back with 4 Babolat Pure Aero VS... had some great deal and bought 2 more!

I will string them with the following to decide what will be my setup for this season.

- Solinco Confidential 120
- Solinco Hyper G Soft 120
- Solinco Tour Bite 120
- Solinco Revolution 120

Will string all of them at 23 kg and will give my feedback in a few days (weeks)

I might well also try the Hybrid TB / Vanquish but it may end up a bit too powerful on the VS



What would be your favorite choice between those?

In that frame I would go with normal Hyper G or Confidential. You would really need to get the racket moving to get the most use of TB and Revolution.

Remember all those are 120 gauge. TB 120 is decently powerful. But I may try 22kg for TB and Revolution

Have you had experience with Hyper G losing string tension just sitting in the bag ?? i had strung up Hyper G at 54 lbs and i had to travel alot this summer and it just sat in the bag for 2 and 1/2 months. and when i took it out to play again today, string tension seem like it droped almost 5 lbs,, or maybe even more ?? is this normal for hyper G ?

That’s normal for practically every poly string.

5-6 lbs tension loss from just sitting in the bag and not even hitting once ?? i thought Hyper G would hold tension better. No womder it felt totally mushy and trampoline like after i took it out to play a match....LOL. i thought it would play well since it was strung fresh 2 months ago.....lol

Yup I see that all the time with Hyper G. People feed off each other and all the hype but when you look at it how it performs it is just like any other poly from that standpoint.

My kid likes it so I keep stringing it up but I have never been able to get them to try other strings so he doesn't know there is a whole sea of other string out there.

I write about my tension findings with Hyper-G Soft and even with a prestretch prior to stringing, there was about a 16% tension loss from right off the stringer to when it broke. Without a prestretch, that figure would be well over 20%.

I didn’t go back and read my earlier posts but it seems I had just less than 10% tension loss from off the stringer to sitting overnight.

Just string 1kg more and play with it 1 hour... once it's set tension will hold quite some time...

Some polys lose their tension continously (cyclone tour), some other (like Hyper G Soft) have an initial drop off and then stay stable for a while...

Any string will lose tension if it just sits in a bag, even in a “thermo” lined bag
