Big Title Haul of The Next Gen - Official Watch Thread

Every time I watch Tsitsipas I struggle to find anything super special about his game. Kind of reminds me of Haas, he can do a lot of things but not sure he's really the best at anything.
Tsitsipas has a great serve and FH. Haas was never great at anything, even though he was a good all-around player.

Maybe, my sample size of his matches isn't huge but I feel like his serve and forehand, while both excellent shots, aren't so good that he can just ride them if the rest of his game isn't working. That's what I was thinking, just comparing to someone like Medvedev who seems to be able to serve his way through rough patches a lot more often.

Just for fun, the big titles that are missing from the Next Gen and younger haul include....

AO, RG and W.....

Alcaraz is ushering in a "New Gen" in my view; Sinner is probably the main man in his generation
Could argue maybe FAA as well

Kyrgios, Medvedev, Coric, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Khachanov, Hurkacz, Norrie are all in an established generation that we have been calling "Next Gen" for a while

So this is also useful to have a side-by-side comparison between these 2 groups. I admit the age cut-off is quite arbitrary from my side to be fair!

I think it's perfectly reasonable to consider the Med-Zed-Bus generation (approximately 95-99 DOBs) different from the new Next Gen led by the Alcaraz-Sinner-FAA trio.

I'll give the serve for Tpas, especially clutchness.
But his FH ain't that much better than Haas'.

Haas' injury problems also stalled him big time. Something that isn't recognized or talked about much atleast.

Wow, that actually looks so lame when you consider how long some of those guys have been around. Pathetic even.

His old self Beat peak Djokovic in 2012. Haas was also one of those ”what if” type of talents. So much potential.

2013. Haas didn't just beat Djokovic in Miami 2013. He slammed him at his best Masters tournament Miami, 6-2, 6-4.
2012 - he had a pretty competitive match vs Djoko in Canada 12 - only 1 to do so.

After a dry spell since Paris, with Djokovic winning YEC and AO, the younger players have chances to battle it out for IW and Miami, as both Djokovic and Nadal are out and will not be competing.

So, we will see some movement on the big title haul of the Next Gen this sunshine double. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top, who makes their move this month?

List has been updated. Medvedev now has seven big titles.
Thanks Hitman.
I was eagerly waiting for the match to get started but then 5 mins before the start of the match some guests came over and went right after the match finished:(
I hate this life:cry:

@Hitman
Thanks for the update. BTW, do you see Carlos winning all big titles like Novak plus Olympics Gold Medal?!
I feel like he needs to win Paris, Shanghai and WTF before another potential great talent emerges. Basically indoor tourneys where he is vulnerable most.

Currently all the singular big titles leaders are having masters title.

Slam and ATP finals are not singular.

Fognini fritz Khachanov Norrie busta coric Rublev will never become slam champs.

Only Rune from current bunch of singular big title winners seem to be grand slam worthy right now.

Also in best of the rest Hurkacz and Dimitrov won't win a slam either.

Rest all are grand slam winners except tsitsipas and Zverev who have won multiple big titles but not a slam. They may win 1 in the future as well.

Sinner is good in best of five

Sinner is already a slam champ. Similar to Cilic. Yes Cilic. Both are currently at 1 slam each and don't want to give hypothetical wins to sinner.

These are all slam champs so they have already done it.
He needs to win more masters. Let’s see what he can do in Miami. I don’t trust him on clay but I expect a masters final in Rome/Monte Carlo.
