BIGGEST CHOKE IN TENNIS HISTORY? - Zverev loses US Open 2020 final from 2 sets up!

Thiem is the 2020 US Open champion after coming back from 2 sets down and a down a break in the 3rd. The momentum swings in this match were crazy, quality was up and down, very nervous play from both. Is this one the biggest chokes in mens, grand slam tennis at least? Certainly a match Zverev will never forget. He was in complete control in the first two sets, but could this be classified as a choke or Thiem just playing better as the match went on?
Apparently Thiem had an injury, but I didn't seem to affect him too much. Zverev had an opportunity to serve it out at 5-3 in the 5 sets and Thiem had a couple championship points come and go as well, so both had their chances. So happy for Dominic, finally!! After all those finals, he is a Grand Slam Champion!!!

This tournament is a sliding doors moment for tennis. Battle of the one who would choke less. I doubt either one would have beaten Rafa, Roger or Novak in the final.

Zverev really must address her serve, someone of his height really shouldn't be serving so many DF's. Alot to reflect on for him. I feel like he will still win grand slams in the future, when the BIG 3 have well and truly gone. We probably see alot of players win 3-4 slams in their career, before new dominant forces emerge.

Grand Slams are 5 sets for a reason. It seperates the men from the pretenders. It's why winning the first 2 sets doesn't win you the match. And it's not that easy beating the 3rd best player in the world.

I think Thiem did raise his level in the 3rd set. Sasha should have stayed with thiem and raise his.... But he decided to remain at Choky level............ o_O :-D :-D

It’s easy to forget how young he still is. Thiem is 27 and just winning his first and only when the big 3 are not there. He didn’t win this one running away. I’m as hopeful for Sascha bringing home the big ones as I am for Thiem winning another.

Many times the big 3 won Slams without beating anyone of any significance. Who did Nadal beat to win USO2017? A corpse of Del Potro in the SF and not much else. History only cares about who won the Slam.

Thiem is a proven warrior on the court. You really think that beating him in straights would've really been that easy? He was going to find his groove sooner or later.
Zverev's serve is sh*t and gave Thiem a second wind.

Against someone serving decently, Tgiem woukd have been out in straights today.

Like who? Name him.
We saw Nadal beating Thiem in straights at USO2018 and AO2020 right?
We saw Djokovic beating Thiem in straights at AO2020 right? LOL
Have some respect for the third best player in the world.

You really have no idea how bad Thiem was for 2.5 sets today. Why bring up matches in which he played much better than today?
True. But also how good was Zverev today for those first 2 sets? Did you see what Zverev did to Djokovic and Nadal respectively in Rome in 2017 and 2018? His upper level when he's on song is a sight to behold. Even the big 3 at times have no answers for him and have to wait till he loses momentum. Zvereve hits missiles in the corners off both wings with ease. He's almost unplayable at times. Being in a Slam final, both players will have emotions and a lot of tension.

Zverev seems to have got worse, not better, since those matches against Djokodal.
