Biggest underachievers

Who do you consider to be the greatest underachievers in this beautiful sport?
I have to go with Nalbandian- pure talent but lazy a.f. and half of his career was interrupted by injuries. Lack of motivation fid not help him either

Zverev. I hate the guy but he's immensely talented. Watch the Citi Open 2018 and he looks like a future 10+ slam winner. It's honestly amazing how hard he's crashed and burned. Shapo probably underachieved even more based on expectations though his expectations were always too high.

Well Zverev should have won at leasr two slams by now, cause he has so much talent and potential. However he is a notorious choker, having lost that match against Cramping Thiem.
Shapo is just overhyped, yeah he has a talent but his game is too one dimensional

Everyone born in the 90s

Although they didn't have the talent to achieve in the first place

Wow chill bro! I make a couple of comments which are true and you go crazy and all out attack. I shall not rise to it though and you go ahead if it makes you feel better.
Lol, true you mean a guy who had to miss months on tour due to foot issues just fakes it and you think we will take your piece of **** assuming it as truth. Biggest truth is your Fake acknowledgement you do for Rafa whereas you are a big hater of him

It’s just my opinion. You don’t have to agree but let’s keep it civil on here. I have praised Nadal on many things and he’s currently the greatest player of all time. He is a great ambassador to the sport in the main but in my opinion he does mention his injuries way to often especially after defeat. If you don’t agree then fine. You have also so said much worse things about Djokovic. However, it’s all cool and we can keep it civil.

Calm down son, @Djokovic_is_the_best#1 likes to troll at times but he's very respectful.
This exactly. Cheers bro. Me and @NeutralFan are genuinely good posters. We will admit we get a bit bored of being rational and sensible though and do troll sometimes. I do apologise @Nadal_King if I caused offence. It wasn’t nice to have a go at Nadal and his injuries but it was not really meant with nasty intent.

How is Kyrgios not listed? The guy has unbelievable talent and potential, yet the best he's done it 1 major final in singles. He has 7 singles titles to his name, the best being a few 500 series, and a career high ranking of 13. Zverev has a much more impressive resume that Kyrgios, and he's 2 years younger.

Sure, Nick won an Aussie doubles title, but that just shows how much of an underachiever he is, given that he barely played doubles leading up to the tournament. Hell, he didn't even play at all after the 2021 Laver Cup.

Sure, he's tool, and complete a-hole on the court as well as on social media, but that has absolutely nothing to do with his talent level and his (minimal) achievements.

He will win slam or two and couple of masters. I am sure of that

Berdych couldn't even take a set off Federer in 2017, Murray in 2016, Novak in 2013, Roddick in 2009, Nadal in 2007, quite an overrated fellow on these forums for his 2010 form.

You are kidding right. 20 time gs winner, one of the greatest of all time is underachiever... sure

Nishikori, Dimitrov, and Raonic (ugh), all partially due to injuries and partially due to a lack of mental strength against the top players. The Lost Gen are underrated in comparison to the Next Gen, but were talented players (each in a different way, obviously). They all worked very hard though, so it's a little different than some of the other nominees in this thread.

Yeah I agree. 40 15. You know what match i am refering to
But also just tactics, execution and mental strength vs Djokodal in general. He mostly sliced his BH return vs Rafa for the vast majority of their matches up until that AO final - that's plain stupid

Yeah on BPs like in 07 finals (Rg) against Rafa. He had like

Seriously, McEnroe is the logical choice. He won 7 slams when he could (and should) have won 12 with his talent. Safin would be next in line.

Also, the recency bias in this thread is hysterical. Zverev? He's utterly irrelevant in tennis history. He hasn't underachieved either. Making a slam final (and spectacularly choking it away) will be his career highlight.

I do not know why but your profile photo creeps me the hell out
