I love the 4D 500 tour, but it hurt my shoulder. I'm happy to see more flex. Actually, I want to try your biomimetic 300 tour.

Shows the uselessness of the subjective power ratings. The new racquet is lighter, flexier, more headlight, and has lower swingweight, yet is deemed "medium" power to the old racquet's "low-medium."

how do they determine that?

all the biomimetics have had their sw lowered . no surprise there

Have them both and the Biomimetic swings so much easier but has less pop just as you would expect from the respective specs. Personally prefer the 4D.

It looks to me like the Biomimetic would be more of an all-court players frame than the older 500 Tours. The older versions were better suited to 1st strike tennis. Big serves and creating heavy strokes and winners. Neither the AG or the 4D had pin-point control off the ground and were just average for net play.

The Biomimetic specs seem to a product of what was wrong the earlier versions. This frame might be the real winner in this line. I can see how it might be the perfect "stock" frame for many and a great platform for mods.. taking the frame into a "players" spec when desired. While I have not played with it, I am excited about the specs. The PJ looks decent.. but I have not seen it in person. Having the flex @ 65 RA is a great improvement.

This is another Bio Dunlop I am interested in trying. I have the 200 Lite demo right now, but I want to compare it to this one, as I might need the extra power it provides. The Bio line seems very comfortable as compared to the AG line. I did not hit with any of the 4Ds.

Got demo of Bio 500 tour for my daughter who wants to move up from 500 AG the reason she would not use the AG Tour was because it was so stiff at 71 flex. It never made sense why the Tour model would be stiffer than the reular 500 in the AG line. I hit a little myself with it and I think its a major improvement from previous models.

Hey guys, be careful with the RA because the specs you see is not actually 65. If you go to Dunlop website, it shows that RA should be 69 for the Biomimetic 500 Tour. I trusted Dunlop website than this TW's specs. Why? i have tried the new Biomimetic 200 plus and 300, and both have RA more like the Dunlop website shows than this TW's specs. Also TW's specs for the new Biomimetic 200 Lite is only 57, but many players have played with it and confirmed that the RA for the Bio. 200 Lite should be 63, not 57. End of my thoughts.

The manufacturer's stiffness is usually unstrung and usually within a range of tolerance. The TW average is the best real-world estimate.

So 69 comes down to 66-7 strung and TW's calibrated average is 65 so the real racquet is a little less stiff than indicated.

If you have ones more like the website then that means you got one on the high side of the real-world average.

They took the strung and unstrung specs and both are posted on their site

The only way to really know is to play the frame. If the new 500 Tour is 65.. that is great.. if it is indeed closer to 68-69, that makes it too stiff again for me. I find that the TW specs are in most cases better than the most of the manufactures reports. Lots do vary to be sure. I am very excited if the flex is 65.. if it is really 69... a loser for me. I will pick-up a demo very soon. I will be able to tell in about 10 minutes of hitting.

Hi SteveI, where did you pick up the demo? The frame won't be available here until 3-15-2011, unless you are in Europe. I am currently playing with the Aerogel 500 Tour and 4D 500 Tour. I really like to go full bed with Poly string at 58 lbs but i couldn't because the stiffness of the frame. Yeah, if the stiffness is really 65, i will get 2 instantly. So please come back SteveI and give us some feedback on the new Bio. 500 Tour. Thanks.

Yep. Please, let us know.

As much spin as an AG500 Tour?

More or less solid? Does it need lead?

I wish Dunlop would make a 98 sq. in. 16 X 18 heavier (11.8+ oz.) racquet.

Lighter is not always better.

I have hit with the Bio500Tour 3 weeks ago for about 2 hours. I must admit, I am playing currently (or almost, until last WE) with a 4D 300 with lead and I found the Bio500Tour to be a little too stiff... maybe something like 68. But it changes a lot in terms of feeling compare to mine, maybe it is less...

In every case, this stick is more stable than the previous one, good pace and still nice control and spin works well. IMO, too powerful, I would not have thought it was the case.

I am guessing the flex is closer to what Dunlop reports than what TW has posted. The frame should not have that much power based on the specs reported by TW. I have not had one in my hands yet.. :-(

I saw the racquet yesterday at the local tennis shop and it "looks" very cool. The chrome and yellow really make a nice looking frame. Hopefully it will hit as well as it looks. I'm hoping to try it out on Thursday.

Anyone else has tried the biomimetic 500 tour? I have the 4D version and want to have a second stick. I love the pop on my 4D but it feels too stiff at times. And I break way too many strings too. I wish the new version came in 16x19

I have been playing with the Biomimetic 500 Tour for about a month and love it. A word on the weight, mine states the strung weight as being 11.18oz on the frame but it actually weighs 11.3 on the scales.

Who was the idiot talking snowshoes? I bet he's a 3.5 playing with a leaded kps88...

i hit the ag 500 tour with full poly, it is just such a great frame. Its super powerful and has excellent control. dunlop is making some of the best racquets. i love dunlop.

I totally agree! I've demoed MANY raquets from all the major brands, and most of the new racquets that came out this year, and Dunlop really shines. Love the solid feel and quality, and they have "controllable" power.

I decided to stick with the Biomimetic 500 Tour, and I'm very happy! I need to play around with the string set-up to get it perfect, but i might just need a higher tension. Any suggestions on strings? Currently using Silk at 58. Like it alot. The feel and comfort are great, but slightly too powerful and moves way too much.

I've hit with it, really maneuverable, does feel stiff but has the Dunlop "naturally dampened feel", and had great access to spin. It was the best ************/spin serve racquet I have hit with to date. It was a medium powered racquet in my opinion, I had to dial it back a little.

3.5 with a leaded kps...LMAO

No, really, wait 'til you have been here a while. There are some very revealing videos to be found down in 'Tips and Instruction' of many of our intrepid posters who wax lyrical about their old pro staffs and head 630s etc etc.

Then you see them play...

i just got the biomimetic 500 tour and had a hit with it.
spin, comfort, power is good but it does come across as light.
i'm thinking of putting on a leather grip and some tape at 3 & 9.
strangely though the end of the handle/buttcap of the Bios doesn't protrude very much (unlike the 4d versions) and i keep feeling like i might let fly the racquet at times.

People complain that the weight is lower and the swing weight is too low... etc...

I think dunlop did the right thing. Now you can add lead tape and have more freedom in building a racquet that suits your personal taste.

Want a very high swing weight with adding the least weight? Put lead at 12. Want to beef up the twist weight? Add lead at 3/9. Like the swing weight but want it heavier? Add lead in the throat.
