The post you are responding to is more than a year old.
A sponsorship is a good reason to go pro, even if playing Futures can be a drag. It was pretty public knowledge that Devin Britton had sponsors when he left Ole Miss at age 18. Otherwise, most of these decisions do not work out and do not make much sense.
There is also the factor of academics. I won't name names here, but I know of a couple of players who went pro after a year or two of college where part of the decision was that they really were not students. They might not have stayed eligible and finished a degree, anyway, so they might as well try pro tennis in that case. One of them is doing pretty well right now on the pro tour, BTW.
^^^ SoCal school guys I'm sure... we just party too much...
No, actually from across the country. I don't have much contact with SoCal players and schools.
I don't think anybody talked about getting his sponsorship money all situated. It's not just a question of does he just want to go pro or college, it's a question of who's going to back you until you're making a profit if you decide to join the tour. There are hotel, travel, tourney fees that he'll be incurring.
Oooooops. Might have been reading that on my phone when I responded. Small screen and all.
I don't have that problem, due to having only a flip phone with no data plan and no texting plan, all of which is considered quite humorous by the wife and kids.
hoping to see him and Krueger in a future this week here in Napoli.
Bjorn got bounced today 7-6 in the 3rd. Looks like Krueger plays tomorrow.
