Blade 98 cv - NG hybrid - your experiences? - Wilson frames for older men?

Hey guys! Purchased the wilson blade 98 cv for my dad a while ago. 16x19 pattern, he hits relatively flat and in his 50s. Previously a tennis coach, he's got very good directional control and loves volleys.

Was looking for string suggestions to liven up the frame, was thinking along the lines of Vs touch in the mains and ALU (prestretched) in the crosses to add abit more feel and liveliness.
Was just wondering what your experiences are with the blade 98 CV.

Also what your thoughts are on the blade 98 cv for older players. - Honestly I was considering just getting him a set of clash frames. I've heard they're very fun and got some nice comfort and flex whilst still being decently powerful. I'd like to stick within the wilson brand as it's his favourite :) Or shall I wait for the new blade with "freeflex"?

Thanks guys!

im using the wilson “spin effect” hybrid in my 98L. revolve mains and sensation crosses at 52 lbs. the sensation adds just enough pop and softens the feel a little.

cool man, thanks for the quick reply. How is it? Would you say it's elbow friendly? And what's the durabiliy like? The thing is with my dad is he doesn't get that poly dies, and he things you just play with it until it breaks... Which it probably will never. So was just thinking about getting a gut hybrid

it is definitely more elbow friendly than full poly, but definitely less elbow friendly than full multi. the longevity has surprised me, the multi at least holds tension somewhat well. the only thing is that the stringbed tends to lock ... the mains slide easily at first but then the crosses lose their coating and ta daa, locked bed.

a good soft combo can be soft.main/poly.cross
several/most companies have prepackaged hybrids
@n8dawg6 suggested the Wilson spin effect!, however he has it setup for durability (poly.mains/multi.cross), some people really like that setup!! I personally would reverse his setup to get soft playability (w.sensation,mains/w.revolve.cross)
wilson revolve (poly) was designed for that slippery/low friction purpose for spin effect racquets
one of the best cross strings ive used/strung/tried is gamma.glyde, its in a sense a slippery/low.friction/powerfull synthetic string,, complements well with multi pains and/or poly.mains
for budget combos, I do like thinner gauge round polys to get the same level of slippery on cross strings,,
for budget combos I personally would try my favority multi.main 16g at my preffered tension, with a thinner 17g poly a few lbs less..

This. I've played with multi main / poly cross (sensation/YPTP, Rexis/YPTP, and now Velocity/YPTF) gets good snap back for spin and I think it's a good comfy combo for flat hitters and non-string breakers. Remember more than half of the string bed feel comes from mains. An even more budget combo is syn gut mains and soft poly cross at the tensions @1HBHfanatic suggested.
