Blade 98 V7 string and tension you use

Demoed a 98 18x20 and felt the racket was solid but demo strings were awful. Was thinking of full bed Babolat VS Touch at 53 if I buy one. Any thoughts ? I don't want a board, looking for comfort and power.
Thanks.

If you're looking for comfort and power, you should probably go with your gut ... because you'll get both

Personally I liked a firmer string in the V7. I felt it paired well with firm strings because the frame is so soft anyway, and softer strings in it ended up feeling mushy and providing vague feedback which I didn't like. But with a full bed of gut it'd really be something, full pillow setup.

x-1 biphase at mid-tension is the once and only string job I’ve put in mine before realizing the sw is too high for me, but it feels good. I’d be tempted to try cyclone tour if I ever play with it enough to pop the x-1.

It depends on how good your technique is. If you have technically sound strokes, fast RHS, good movement then I would suggest Luxilon 4G or 4G soft. If money is not a problem you can make a hybrid with natural gut and 4G.

transitioned to the Blade 98 v7 18x20 with Alu Power Rough 16 strung at 48# about 3 months ago.
couldnt keep a ball in the court. so i added a lot of lead tape 20gms or so, in the hoop and restrung with
Alu Power Fluro 17 at 52#. seems perfect for me after i lost the vibration dampner to get more
"feel".
now i have two of them.
i might pickup a Blade 98 16x19 v7 to see if i can get more topspin, but for now i am pretty happy
with these racquets

If the ball flies on you, just string it tighter. You might achive the desired result without adding weight.;)

Whatever you put don't string it more than 47-48 pounds.Trust me.

This is what I found overall. I have had all kinds of sets on my Blades and tried tensions galore, but always settle back to around 46 lbs, +/- 2lbs. Currently loving the Lux 4G again...dangit. $$$

48-54 poly depending on weather and singles or doubles.

50-55 for gut sounds okay

VS mains at 55# with 10% pre-stretch
4G crosses at 50#

The hybrid lasts much longer than full gut, with more spin since the strings don't lock. Very little change in playability before than mains snap.

I also like TBS at 50#. Pretty consistent performance for ~17 hours for me. I have a little more confidence in taking big rips but with the cost of slightly less comfort when I'm playing a lot.

Took a page out of your playbook and strung my V7 18m with lux 4G at 47lbs. Oh yeah it's very solid . Very good power too...

i hit with my Blade 98 v7 16x19 Roland Garros strung with LuxAlu Power 17g 50#. seemed kind of stiff
probably should have dropped to 46-48#. ended up hitting with my Blade 98 v7 18x20s instead.
they were strung with LAP 17g 52#, but three weeks ago.
i get a lot of power and the ball jumps a lot if i can hit the sweet spot, especially with my kick serve
i wanted to wait for the Blade 98v8 16x19 but its summer release is suppose to be delayed due to supply chain issues

i also added 25gms of leadtape in the hoop to get more plough through. probably should check the swing weight.
guess i will have to find a shop that has a machine

I’ve been using Klip uncoated 16 in the mains at 55, gosen og micro 16 at 53 in the crosses. Power is slightly less than a full bed of gut but comfort and control are great.

yeah, as much as I love the value of the SquareX YTex I was using, there is a solid difference with 4G. I ha e the second with Element but finding it loses tension a bit quicker.
