Blade V7 Tennis Elbow??

All these posts are super helpful and some are downright hilarious. Ok so here's my TE issue.

Textreme 100P 18x20 wNRG2 52lbs, lead at 3 & 9 o'clock, no TE issues even when I hit off-centered. Figured as I'm ageing up in the 40s now that I'd like some free power versus 18x20 you have to produce everything.

Switched to the popular beloved V7 16x19, love the higher top and arch. I've tried, NRG2, Hyper G (Soft), Yonex 850...my right elbow now HURTS all at 50lbs. I don't get it. I've read that it's probably More Flex, more HH??

I was loving the Green Hyper-G strings but I think that's the culprit? Should I possibly switch back to the NRG2 full bed? Should I put lead at 3 & 9 o'clock also?

Ideas? I am selling my Textreme 100Ps and am really like these V7, just don't know which combination to change up, so many variables

I played with the Blade v7 98 16 x 19 for a while and can tell you that it plays well with a synthetic or Multi string strung around 54 or 55 pounds. The problem with the Blade is the quality control with the swingweight. The higher swingweight could be an issue if you have a frame above spec weight. I would ditch the poly and use a synthetic string if you are getting elbow discomfort. I never had any elbow issues with the Blade and have had some minor elbow issues due all the years of playing. NRG is a great Multi.

How about demo-ing a Textreme 100 Tour 310? Should be similar to your 100P but with more free power...
I get golfer's with any string including gut/poly with the Blade - have narrowed it down to the weird flex on off-center volleys & serves as well as the low twistweight.

Not sure about the blade but just wondering if anyone had shoulder issues with the Clash 100. I added 1 gm each at 10 & 2 and .5 gm at 12. I did put a Yonex overgrip as well. It’s strung with hyper g @ 48 lbs. I feel a niggling pain in the front of my shoulder with it. Surprisingly I don’t have any issues when I play with say Tecnifibre 300 RS or Head 360+ Speed MP.

Do you get issues with the Serve? I notice I get TE more from the serves than anything

yes, serve and volleys mostly. It's GE (golfer's elbow), the inside of the elbow, not the outside which is TE (tennis elbow).
adding weight to 3/9 and using a more 'aggressive' continental grip helps but not entirely.
i noticed the shape of the grip is a bit different than the RF97's shape... could have something to do with my palm sliding a bit toward eastern instead of pure continental.
I attribute the issue to the combination of low twistweight, handle shape and freeflex.
I haven't tried the 18x20 version which should have a beefier twistweight and more plow.
I'm probably going to sell the Blades and stick to the RF97s for a while...

Unfortunately (or fortunately!) a racquet or string change is not going to cure your elbow; a change in stroke mechanics will on the other hand, and it's free! Don't hold the racquet too tight on ground strokes or serves. Power comes from racquet head speed, so take the racquet back early, move into the shot and relax your wrist through contact in ground strokes.

I've had both TE and GE, and some work with a Theraband flexbar really helps as well. Hope you get better, elbow pain is no fun.

Serve, slice backhands & volleys in that order are the most painful for me with my current TE. Outside of playing with really stiff frames it’s usually poly & the tension that’s the culprit. you can add general wear & tear too, no good saying I’ve used a certain poly for years in similar frames & I’ve now got TE, time to change strings.

I've generally used softer string so I hadn't been feeling the stiffness of freeflex or whatever. After switching to a stiffer string and bombing some serves I definitely felt it.

I've always felt it in the clash... just have to be hitting hard enough in the blade.

Had some "golfers elbow" and new forearm pain for a bit.

Adding another update. Had been using my CV Blade V6 for the spring and most of the summer. TE became less and less noticed. Had used full multi TNT2 for I think 2 stringings, then Hyper G soft with TNT2 for 2 stringings or so, then mixed in a full bed of Hyper G Soft on some days and then 4G with TNT2. No issues. Even tried Tourna Silver with TNT2. No elbow issues.

So then I brought out my V7 Blade with Hyper G Soft and TNT2. Played 3-4 times with it. Good news, no issues.
Today, I hit for 1.5 hours with V7 Blade with a full bed of 4G. No issues today.

If I recall correctly, when I first tried that set up V7 with a full bed of 4G, after 1-2 sessions my elbow was sore--leading to full TE and the start of this thread.

Since it seemed fine today, I'll probably give it another spin to see if my elbow acts up. If it acts up, then the cause of my TE was a full bed of 4G. If it doesn't then the answer may have been technique. I wonder if I was having too short of a swing that I'd rush at the end to meet the ball. Recently feel I'm taking a longer swing and setting up better. But who knows.

In my case, it was the combination of a technique (shorter follow through on a stroke, too much wrist motion), the choice of string (Hyper G) and low power of Blade which did not give me any extra help.

I since switched to Triax and Head 2021 Radical MP. No problems.
