Blade V8 Official Thread.

I have also seen a photo with the "V7.0" printed on it, but now I see it says V8.0 on Wilson.com (big picture)

This is turning into some sort of conspiracy theory thread. TW has published the specs of the v8 US SE. We know the methodology they use. They take a batch of about 6 racquets and publish the average. They are one of if not the most reliable sources of real world specs of the racquets they sell. Seriously - there's no secret plot by Wilson to sell a disguised v7 as a v8 with different specs. And there is now no longer any reasonable basis for anyone on here to doubt the average RA or swingweight of the v8 16x19 published by TW is legit. Those are the objective, proven facts. Unless TW is part of the conspiracy...

How can the balance change from 7 pts headlight unstrung to 5 pts headlight strung? Doesn’t stringing typically alter the balance by 3 pts? Is this something to do with the new technology in the handle?

i really like the subdued green color. but at times i can't help but think it looks like a watermelon. like the dark green to light copper reminds me of the dark outer watermelon shell to the lighter inner rind.

It sounds like you can't remove the buttcap on these, which may suck for people who want to rebalance the frame more precise than just using leather.

I saw the 18x20 copy of the new greenish one at my local store today
feels quite head heavy.
feels like a metal racquet!
not sure what they were thinking with this cosmetic, but of course that is subjective.

Lol they renamed free flex ...

This is the same racket but sightly softer, less swing weight, new cosmetic.

it's not pointless if they tune it up a little, give it more feel, v7 has a chalky feel to it. and such a light racquet can always use more stability and a larger sweet spot

Can someone explain to me this updated buttcap tech?
In the Fukky review there was an image showing how it works. It appears that the graphite hairpin thickens at the bottom to match up with the buttcap instead of that area being taken up with foam handle on top of the thin rectangular handle of the hairpin, which Wilson marketing says makes it feel more connected to your hand. I am speculating that this may explain why people are reporting the stiffer feeling despite the TW specs of 61 RA.

That new grip could feel amazing, or could feel chunky and awkward. Quite a bold move to mess with something so basic on so popular a line. I wonder if this'll be a home run or a miss with most people and a one-off experiment.

Pretty much the same they did to the 2013 blade, where they rounded off the edged on foam handle and integrated some carbon fibre strips to enhance the "feel" or something, which was a complete screw up

For those of us using extended length racquets: From the looks of it, the handle is still compatible with an XTP buttcap right? Would just need to be restapled or glued

Someone else reported that most of the racquets are all delayed in shipping and won't be released until mid September, so that may explain the video.

Judging by the description of the paint it will look great in reality even if the photos don't do it justice.

sloane's outfit at the us open would have looked amazing with the new blade pj. i thought at wimbledon the radical orange looked pretty cool against all white, but it does not go well with the green heritage outfits by nike this year.

The regular or us open version? Same price?
It was 219 and it is the green/color changing pj. They had the white uso version clash. Apparently this was the first time the stick can be purchased anywhere. By the time it’s released elsewhere the new price increases will be effective.

Did they have a white C98?

Got to say Tsitsipas racquet looked pretty shiny in person today in his match against Murray. i realize it's just a paint job over an older blade but hopefully thats what the blade pro will get. i saw sabelenka play also and hers was shiny too. Supposedly there is a wilson store in one of the corners of louis Armstrong stadium that has the v8. I'll definitely go check it out tomorrow. I think everthing was closed by the time I finished watching kyrgios get his *** beat by Bautista agut lol
