Blade V8 Official Thread.

OKAY, Wilson came to my academy today to let us demo the rackets. They had demos of the Blade v8 in 98 16x19 and 18x20, which each racket coming in either 4G, 4G, and a Wilson Synthetic Gut, or just the synthetic gut. I demoed it in the 16x19 with 4G and WOW. To give a background, I use the Blade v7 16x19 normally with Volkl Cyclone which in my opinion was a setup that worked for me naturally. I tried 4G in my racket but never liked it. The new version just has such good feel especially with the 4G in the racket. Compared to previous Blades, it also gives a good amount more power while still retaining the great control that Blade has had. Another plus is that the new "reflective" colorway it has works a lot better than I thought it would, very similar to the car picture someone had in this thread LOL. One thing that I found surprising was that it had some sort of new technology or something called "FORTYFIVE" which was written on the top of the racket. Not sure what it was exactly and I never got the chance to ask the ambassadors that came.

Bottom line: What a freaking racket! Probably the best iteration of the Blade I've used going all the way back to the v5. If I were anyone interested, I would get your hopes up now.

EXTRA INFO: Even though this isn't the correct thread, there WILL be a Blade Pro released with the 2021 v8 colorway. I was not given a specific date or anything, but it is confirmed to come!

(I do have a video of the Blade with me showing off the racket but I am not sure if I am allowed to post this on this forum. If someone would confirm if I can or not, that would be great.)

Can you DM me the video on IG @Stercules or private message me it if you’re not allowed to post? I’ve only saw one photo and need to see more

45 is the 45 degree graphite they are using in the prostaff.

What about maneuverability, did you find it pretty much the same?

How was stiffness? Significantly more?
Not significantly but it’s noticeably there. Once again, it could be due to the fact that I was using a lot softer string before I demoed the racket with a pretty stiff string. That’s the variation that might be different with others so once others get to demo, we’ll get a definitive answer.

If this stick is ~64 RA and ~330 SW strung, it will be time for my 2013 and 2012 to be retired. Very exciting update, thank you!

Could you post a video to YouTube?

Lol wow that's very under spec... To the point that I'd say your machine may be broken or you must have spent infinite time finding these. Unless you're stringing with 20 gauge or multi.. but I see you're using confidential.

Perhaps you are talking about 18x20, and he is talking about 16x19. I have 2x 16x19, and my numbers are very similar to his.

Sigh.... was going to order a custom v7 after seeing all this info and they pulled the wilson rep discount codes this week (if anyone know of one still working please let me know). Hoping that color is more vibrant in the sun but the quality looks much better.

What was the discount? I did notice a lot of folks were getting custom Wilsons on social media recently

Not sure, just what Wilson told me. They said I'd see it with pros in August but never mentioned the Olympics. We'll see.
