BLX Blade 98 - 10 grams Overweight!?!

I received four demos today: Wilson BLX Blade 98, Wilson BLX Pro Open, Head Youtek IG Prestige S, and Babolat Pure Storm GT '09.

All the racquets were pretty close to the specs given on T-W except the BLX Blade 98.

The T-W balance spec was spot on...it was 3 points headlight.

But the weight, instead of the T-W listed 320g, was 330 grams. 10 grams over!!! With an overgrip and rubber band it comes to 338 grams!!!

I've heard that there are some variances between racquets, but 10 grams seems like a lot! I thought maybe somebody might have demoed the racquet and put some weight under the butt cap, but there was none.

For anyone who owns a Wilson BLX Blade 98, what is the strung weight of your BLX Blade 98?

Thanks.

BTW: of the four, this one was my favorite by far...overall though, this may have been the worst group of demos I've ever decided to order. More on that later though!

10 grams is massive difference. Or to put it in perspective - that's 40 inches of 1/4" lead tape! 2 Juice Pro's that I used to have were 15 sw points apart - unplayable for me...

Wilson is notorious for having horrid inconsistency and quality control between their racquets so I'm not all that surprised. The BLX Blade 98 is a fantastic stick though.

10 grams is not unheard of for Wilson. My PS85s and BLX Six Ones were as much as 6 grams apart and that was lucky. Heck even the paint jobs felt different. One was thicker than the other.

MEASURE THE LENGTH as well, I bot one from TW classified's and it actually is barely over 26 3/4 in length! still like it though

You're kidding?!? I didn't even measure the demo before I sent it back.

I really grew to like the BLX Blade 98 demos...would be interested to see how it would play if it were actually the weight listed here at T-W.

Picked up my Babolat Pure Drive Roddick and really hit well with it too. The only thing the two seem to have in common is more power than my 200 Tour and all three seem to have similar swing weights.

Has me thinking that after my hip heels I'm going to try several higher swingweight racquets: thinking the 2012 Pure Drive Roddick, BLX 6-1 16x18, BLX Blade 98 again, and one of the following: AeroStorm Tour GT, Max 200G, Gamma Tour 330X.

Thanks for the info...next time I'll check ALL the specs.

I wrote a post a while back about my horrific K-Blades with massive variances not only in weight, swingweight, and balance, but also in flex!!! Very common for Wilson.
