Isners wingspan at the net is unreal..It was almost impossible for Monfils to pass him.

Lets all blame the linesmen/women.

Monfils is one of the rising stars in the game. He is more likely to be a threat to Nadal in the latter stages. Furthermore, he is a showman who brings alot of energy to the court.
I've been saying he'll be one of the studs at the FO. Hope he has a good clay court season.

Berrer and Nadal jump to the court. Berrer has a nasty serve, but this should normally be a rout for the #1. Then again, none of the favorites is shining too bright at the moment.

Fish out, Dent out, Isner's in for now....

And Nadal's on right now, yay!
Anyone know who this Michael Berrer is?

When are Nalbandian and Safin playing? (For some reason everytime I click Order of Play on the IW website I get Wednesday's schedule).

Gael was fooking awful you'd never believe that guy could beat Nadal.
That guy can't beat Nadal. That's not the Gael Monfils who beat Nadal. Not even close.

The reason Gael Monfils is in the top 10 is because when he's 'on' he can beat anybody. Unfortunately, he can also lose to anybody when he's having a bad day. Or even a mediocre or semi-good day if he decides he doesn't give a damn, which he often does (much to the dismay of the 2389479873 coaches he's had in his young career).

Nalby's up next on Stadium 3. Safin will play after Peer/Chakvetadze on Stadium 2. That match hasn't started yet as the Dent one just ended.

I don't think you realise how well Inser served and all in all played, his touch and feel around the net was World class, without any exageration.

Btw, this is how close i was to winning £200 from a £5 bet...

Monfils has actually been going quite deep consistently in tournaments since hiring Roger Rasheed. I dont recall him losing to a lower ranked opponent for sometime. Big servers, are always a nightmare to play for baseliners looking for rhythm. I wouldnt look to much into the loss. Monfils is having a breakout year and I expect him to contend for a masters cup berth.

I realize how well Isner played, but that's not the point. The point is that that Monfils can show up at any time, against any player (whether he's playing well or not).

I am very well aware of the fact that his good days have far outweighed his bad days as of late, which is the main reason he's currently in the top 10.

That Berrer, he needs to enjoy himself and not be so nervous. There's no chance of beating Nadal, but 99% of the Tennis world would love to hit with him. It's probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a guy like Berrer.

There's no doubting he's eratic, i'm just saying that Inser deserves credit and i fancy him to dispatch with Melzer.

That's an interesting way of looking at it

You guys make out as if Nadal is crushing him. It's 2-1 with a break. Berrer is a big hitter if allowed to setup. Just doesnt possess the wheels to stay with Rafa though.

Hey, give Isener some credit. He really played well. So it was a bad day for Monfils. Tough. He is the first of the top 10 to get knocked out.

Berrer gave Federer a very decent match in Halle last year, probably the toughest one (which is admittedly not much since Fed didn't lose his serve once during that tournament.)

Today he seems quite sluggish and his 1st serve is not really kicking in as it can.
