Body's reaction to sodas

In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
So is that why sodas help me keep down some foods when I'm feeling sick? When I was young and I felt like I was going to puke because of something I ate, my mom/grandma would tell me to drink a coke.. within 5 or 10 minutes I would all of a sudden feel much, much better and I'd just start burping. I'd sleep off the feeling after that and it'd be gone.. If that is true, then that's freaking awesome.

I stopped drinking the stuff at least a year ago now, and I really don't miss it. My family think i'm insane though.

After a couple of months without it, I tried drinking a bit when I was sick (it has a funny way of making you feel better) and couldn't because the sugar and acid and whatever else made my teeth feel awful.

lol I would like to see a description from that site of what coffee does!they make it sound like a horror movie when in fact,it's just normal physiological reactions to maintain omiostasis.
Not to say, that Coke is good for you,but things aren't THAT tragic.

Say that to someone with type 2 diabetes, hypoglycemia, candida overgrowth, adrenal fatigue, or any other potentially debilitating disorders that can be caused by or related to excess sugar consumption. They probably won't agree because for some of them, it can be that tragic!

Asked about all of his drinking and smoking some years ago on the occasion of his 102nd birthday, jazz musician Eubie Blake replied "if I'd known I was going to live so long, I would have taken better care of myself."

I gave up drinking soda years ago. I will occasionally have a Dr Pepper, or a Ginger Ale (really real ginger ale is awesome!), maybe even a Cherry Cola, but I doubt I could drink it on a daily basis ever again. I usually have to add a lot of ice, or let it get a little bit flat so that i can handle it. I can't believe when I see players drinking it on court or right after match. It must be an incredible shock to the system.

Which is why processed food should be avoided along with sugar. ;)
Yes,I agree ;) but it doesn't mean that if you have one occasionaly is going to get you seriously ill or something. The process described in the OP makes it sound like a thriller.:p

For sure! Most authors seem to believe that if you have a clean diet, your body can handle up to about 20% of your diet being whatever foods you want, which is about 3 or 4 meals per week. However, most people don't really know what a clean diet really is and are pretty much eating poorly at every meal.

didn't the inventor of dr pepper live to be over 90 years old? he would drink 3 a day, at 10am 2pm and 4pm. Having just recently been on the atkins diet i have really toned down on my non-diet soda intake. i drink almost 90% diet now. btw the sams choice diet caffeine free has zero calories and only 5mg of sodium (ex..diet coke has 35 mg of sodium). also pepsi max tastes almost exactly like the real thing. try it if you can find it. my local kroger only had one case left, they really are great.

The first bit sounds like absolute urban legend. Soda just is not a good thing to drink daily, neither is diet soda. Look at the ingredients of both if you have any doubts.

I hope that your participation in Atkins was just a short term thing. There's a seperate thread on that around here somewhere.
