I truly believe this. Federer & Djokovic will both retire from tennis before Nadal. I feel that Federer will go first because of his age, despite the fact that he keeps saying that he plans to play for a long time. I feel that Novak will go second because he's losing motivation and is kind of burnt out, also will continue struggling with injuries. But I feel that Nadal will continue fighting forever and that he loves tennis too much, it's his life and always wants to improve and have hope in winning year after year. Also the fact that he doesn't have a "family life with kids" also plays a factor.

Vote in the poll.

I see Nadal and Federer retiring at the same time. Federer will retire very soon if he can't reach his 2014-15 level again. Nadal got very lucky that his lifespan got extended a few more years by injuries, else he'd have retired or burned out at 26-27 like Borg. I see Djokovic hanging out after Tokyo 2020, but no longer than that.

Well Federer will be playing the AELTC centenary of the tournament at Church Rd, in 2022, albeit in the doubles, so he ain't goin' first

I think Nadal will go first shortly followed by Federer. But if Nadal sticks around longer, that would be amazing like reaching 1 QF in last 16 appearances.

Haha, one of my favourites right now.
Can you imagine the kind of entertainment that his favorite player can give us if he sticks around longer?

I feel that Nadal just needs to find his confidence.

Physically, I think he's still capable of hanging with the best of them.

He does need to rework his tools, which may take a while.

Depending on how Federer comes back from injury, he may not be around for much longer, or may stay another few years. Hoping it's the latter.

I don't see this happening.

I actually see Nadal first then Fed and Nole.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Nole went before Fed because Fed just loves the game and competing.

I think what's more interesting is when Muzzah decides to hang it up. Does he keep towing the line to wait for the Big 3 to retire so he can rack up more slams, or does he go out on his own terms when he wants?

PRoblem with his serve has been hte same for 11 years.

Nole has actually improved his serve the last few years.

We all know how great Fed's serve has improved since 10 years ago.

Nadal would have to re-up his serve to get quicker points.

His serve was actually good to the point of vastly underrated up until 2014. After that back injury, his serve has gone AWOL.

That said, we've seen him serve at over 130 mph at the Barcelona Open just this year (I think against Nishikori), so we know that he's capable of serving harder, but is choosing not to for some inexplicable reason.

I'm sure it doesn't help he's not a natural lefty.

Not sure if that's the reason, since he's demonstrated that he can serve hard if he wants to.

I know he wants his precision and to not have to deal with laser returns off fast serves, but he's not getting the precision or the angles with his Errani serve anyway. Might as well go for big serves and write off some points as a necessary expense.

"A lot of people" hoped Rafa would retire already at the age of 22. He still plays.

Rafa at the press conference ahead of the 2013 Shanghai Masters:
¤¤ "For the last five years, it seems like a lot of people were saying I will not be able to play long the way that I play," said Nadal...
"But I am here again at 27-and-a-half years old and I really hope to have the chance to be here for a lot of more years. ¤¤

Vamos Rafa!

Rafa is naturally (almost) ambidextrous. He plays golf right-handed and billiards/snooker left-handed. His dominant foot is the left foot, he plays whatever football left-footed.

Rafa's interview with Japanese TV in October 2010:

Question: "You are able to use both hands, at what point in time did you decide to play with the left hand?"

Rafa: "I only use the left hand for tennis and other sports. For everyday things, I’m right-handed. When I started playing, I used both hands to hit both backhand and forehand. When I was 3 years old, I didn’t have enough power so Uncle Toni taught me to do that. After that, when I was about 9 or 10 years old, I had to use only one side, and it became that it was natural to use my left hand."

Maybe OP wants to say that Nadal will stay after Djokovic retires to try and win a slam or two because there will be nobody who could stop him. :D:rolleyes:

Nadal shall retire first due to the litany of injuries sustained over his career.

Next up shall be Roger Federer, who shall nevertheless compete until the age of 40.

Djokovic shall be last, albeit only slightly after the GOAT has retired.

Fed first
Then Nadal
Then Djokovic
Then Murray

Murray has already said he's planning to play into his mid 30's

Who cares when Djokovic retires? oh yes only the 4 people that support him on TTW. Show some respect, Nadal still has more slams than your guy has.
Djokovic has plenty of brilliant fans on this website and when it comes to Nadal I'm just being realistic and objective. Nadal has failed to reach a SF since he won RG in 2014.

yeah I also think 2014 back injury was significant.
Top players often struggle to regain forms for a few years after injury.
For example, he's lost sharp angle slice serve from ad-courts.
He now compensates it by moving his serving position to far left, I speculate.

Maestroesque isn't even a word. Kids please stay in school.
You annoying but you may also be right here.Fed is old Djokovic is clearly burnt out and Nadal uses court as a sanctuary which means he will probably play untill he is 40 cause tennis is one of the rare places where he can be himself

They'll retire in order of age. If anything, there's a slight chance Nads will retire before Fed .

will nadal pull a hewitt and stay in tennis til he drops til like 300 in the world
Will Nadal have like 50,000 surgeries in the meantime?

With every post you make, you show how little you really know about the game...
