Hi Lavs,

I haven't heard of any plans to expand the Pure Aero VS family as of yet. We're still focusing our attention on the release of the Pure Strike VS, so I don't think it will be anytime soon. If I hear anything, I will do my best to let you know. Thanks!

Josh, any updates on the release date of the Pure Strike VS?

I don’t like the answer, I appreciate the response. I’ll lobby for the next gen Pure Drive Tour + and happily test for you!
As a long term made AeroPro Drive fan, I am about to utter Babolat blasphemy.

Babolat should consider merging the Pure Aero and Pure Drive in a single frame that offers the benefits of both without too much compromise. And then consider reintroducing a lower RA Players racquet. It keeps three product lines as a result.

Pure AERODRIVE - RA 68ish, powerful, spinny for intermediate to advanced players.
Pure STRIKE - RA 66ish, medium powered, spinny, control oriented.
Pure PLAYER - RA 62ish, low powered, control oriented.

Each line could have a Plus model, and a VS model to provide some variation for higher end players.

Hi JoaoN,

Unfortunately, not yet, but I'm hoping to soon. our sales meeting was postponed from last month, but I think they had it over the last couple days. We're doing it virtually again, and I wasn't in on the calls, but I will let you know what I find out.

Thanks!

i have a few questions for you
1) Is "Sg Spiraltek" the same as "Syn Gut" .
1a) If yes , why it is no longer produced in Taiwan? I saw the packaging on the reel as made in China.
1b) If Sg Spiraltek is not the same as "Syn Gut", is Synthetic Gut 200m (code : 243121) the same as Syn Gut 200m (code :243144)?

By the way, there is a major typo error in most if not all official babolat website if the product "Syn Gut" is on display. The correct manufacturing country should be China instead of Vietnam.
Hi Jster,

We are now making our syn gut in Vietnam, not China, but we still have some left in certain gauges, colors, etc, that were made in China. Some of the colors in syn gut are actually spiraltek, and those would be blue, black, white and red. As far as the codes you listed, they would be the same if the color is pink or natural, otherwise the 243144 code is spiraltek. I hope this clears it up, but let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

So... Spiraltek( 2015-2020)= ”syn gut”(2021-.....)?

been away from this thread for a bit and this might have been addressed already.

Anyone encountering cracks on their PA/PAT? I just got a batch from some traveling tournament players and am noticing cracks where the hoop/throat meet. Granted these guys are putting in the hours and the racquets are getting restrung 1 to 2 times a week. These need new grommets too. Looks like the 2019 version.

Hello @Babolat Official,

Are there any details that you have in which you can share about for the updated Pure Aero for 2022? Are there any improvements that are in discussion that need to be made for the Pure Aero?

I dont understand the issue. There was already years ago a model introduced called Pure strike VS, which turend out to be a paint job of the venerable Pure Control model. I believe Giorgi played with that for some time.
so please be more clearer. Does Babolat wants to reintroduce the Pure strike vs, which is the same as the former Pure control or does Pure strike vs has some improvements?
for me an improvement would be the general availability of a longer plus lenght version that is sold as the same price as the normal lenght version..
So for me just reintroduce the Pure control team plus with kevlar composition.

seeing as tennis racquet companies want to sell us as much stuff as possible... they're still trying to figure it out as the PJ strategy didn't work?

Hi nickl

I haven't heard a peep yet, other than that they won't be released until early 2022, ie, we won;t have a 4th quarter release of any models like we sometimes do. If I hear anything I can share, I'll let you know. Thanks!

From TWU string database, Spiraltek 17 is softer compared to Syn Gut 17. I can still find Spiraltek 17 green color in reel, is this the real Spiraltek (softer) or Syn Gut 17 (stiffer) one?
I don't know which syn gut they tested, so it could have been a different string. All I know is that the current string we are selling as syn gut in black, white, red and blue is SpiralTek. My guess is the natural and pink color is the stiffer syn gut that they tested, but you would have to ask them.

Hi Ron,

Unfortunately I still have no information regarding the Pure Strike VS at this point. My guess is that it will be a completely new frame like the current Pure Aero VS and Pure Drive VS are. When I know anything, I will let you know.

Anyone able to recommend a suitable close replacement for the Aeroprodrive cortex? I’m down to my last APDC.

I don’t like the pure aero or any of the new spin focused racquets as I can generate plenty of topspin without the more open string pattern. Just wanted something close feeling that wouldn’t be such a drastic change in feeling.

Bonjour @Babolat Official :)

I was wondering.. how long could it be until there will be a new color palette for the Aero? (And without the "Rafa" on it?)

No offense, but this new design is really not my cup of tea.. (Eventhough it is for many..)

Or will the regular yellow/black be continued alongside it?

I'm wondering if there is a Tour version of the Pure Drive Plus planned? There are still some older ones out there, but grip sizes are pretty limited.

Nope, they canned it; I was seriously considering switching too, given reports that the current model apparently isn’t quite as much of an arm wrecker as previous iterations, and I was enjoying dabbling with my friend’s Tour+ Smurf.
Yonex VCORE 98+ looks like a better bet to me now, but given how much lead etc. I’ll now have to add either way, I’m continuing to tread water with my old Princes.

bummert to hear. For some reason I'm not particularly arm-sensitive, so I think the older Tour+ will work for me if I can just fine a couple in 4 3/8th. Getting on the small grip bandwagon here.

I've tried the VCORE 100+ as a demo, and hated it. Has this weird "stiff hoop, but flexy shaft" thing going on. My requirements don't seem that specialized, but I'm really having a hard time finding something that is reasonable heavy, very stiff (throughout) and 27.5--preferably with a thinner beam. Besides being thicker than I'd like, the older Tour Plus checks the other boxes (assuming is plays as stiff as the new one?)

Found the 2018 to be manageably stiff strung with Volkl Cyclone; the new model is meant to be more comfortable again. Even though the only theoretical difference between a tour and a non-tour model appears to be the two weights located longitudinally on a metal lattice structure inside the racquet handle - you can see them if you remove the trap door - for some reason I still find the tour models feel more solid than non-tour models with extra weight added. (Apparently weighting up non-tour models wasn’t a problem for Roddick though.):giggle::rolleyes:

fair enough... you're right, it won't kill me to just add some added weight.

They said the tour plus model is discontinued and will no longer be manufactured. They said this when they released it 8 months ago.

It's certainly worth a try weighting up a 2021 300 gram I guess; no doubt I'll try it eventually. I'm not sure why the tour models have felt better to me than the 300 gram ones weighted up in the past - always found it ironic that apparently Roddick didn't use the Roddick/315 gram but used weighted up 300 gram racquets instead.

Hi spaceman,

There will be a new Aero for 2022. I haven't seen or heard anything about it yet, but it will have an updated cosmetic of course. The Rafa line will remain it's own offering, separate from the rest of the Aero family.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does that mean the Rafa aero will just be the 2019, or the 2022 under the same cosmetic? Thank you Josh!

hi josh, does it mean that the natural color will be the old recipe of synthetic gut instead of spiraltek?

You could launch the pure control line again, mainly the pure control team 97 model (with kevlar). excellent model.

Hey Paulo, what frames do you like that are comparable to that PCT?

I also have one that I'm looking to replace the head guard and just purchased a 2014 Pure Control Tour.

I'm eagerly awaiting the new Pure Strike VS Tour but trying to shift over to the 360+ Prestige MP for now.

anything on the lineup close to the aeropro drive2013? i used them and loved them, for some stupid reason 2 years ago changed to ezones but i miss the danger the aeropro drive put in my game.. but im a bit afraid to go for the new aeros since i read they are worse

You should definitely check out the new 2020 Pure Aero VS. I know the price is higher, but it is literally one of the best frames Babolat has recently released, and it plays similarly to the 2013 AeroPro Drive. Just my 2 cents. All the best!

Honestly, I haven't found anything like it until today. I have 3 pure control team 97 and am looking for others. Nothing I've tested so far has a level of stability and handling compared to pure control team. Unfortunately I find it difficult, babolat launches a new pure control-style racket (frame box beam, 21mm)

The closest frame would be the 2019 Pure Aero. Worse depends on who's using it of course, so give a try to see what you think.

Is Babolat releasing new strings this year or next year? If so, is there any info that you can tell us regarding their characteristics or release date?
Hi nickl,

Sorry for the late reply. Been a long week! Yes, we will be releasing RPM Soft at some point in August. It's a polyamide (not polyester) monofilament with an inner coating of co-polyamide/aramid powder for added durablity and a co-polyamide/silicon outer coating to help generate more spin. It's meant to be the best of both worlds between a multifilament and a monofilament, if you will.

Now it's time for me to cry in my beer after watching Rafa lose!
