Hi question about decimas. Anyone else notice that when the rackets are new, the throat Black / yellow area is kind of matte paint, then as you use it, hold it during shot preparation and play etc, it gets shinier? I have no idea if that was intended but I like it.

That just sounds like finger oil getting on your frame...

Pretty normal situation with a lot of racquets. Constant rubbing of the same area of a racquet's frame with your hands / fingers will buff up (polish!) that area and make it look more shiny in comparison to the rest of the frame.

@babolatofficial when is there going to be a new pure strike? The white one came out 2 years after the black and its already been out 2 years now already. Before end of year or in 2019?

@banolatofficial I heard that the original aero pro drive the one before the 2006 had an arrow modular beam which went all the way around the head not just the throat? If this is correct I would love to see a picture of it please. In fact I’m pretty sure that all the posters here would love to see a picture of it Please advise

Babolat tends to follow three year cycles for its major racquet upgrades.

The previous (red and black pj) Pure Strike was released in 2014. The current (white with grey and orange P17 pj) Pure Strike was released in 2017. The next one is due in 2020 although it may be previewed at the end of 2019.

Perhaps there was a prototype version.

However the Aeropro Drive Original (ADPO) did not have an aero modular hoop. There are dozens of images of the APDO on google search and in various threads on here as well.

I wouldn’t be asking about the 2006.
There was an earlier version which tanked sales wise. Was very short lived

Yea there were 4 aero models that has the modular throat and hoop. Scroll down the page and see them for yourself. These were before the Nadal original aero drive that everybody references as the APDO. But in reality it wasn’t the first.

The earlier versions you are talking about were not AeroPro Drive models.

As @langdon0555 has posted, these were the Aero Tour models. A completely different line of racquets.

The APDO was the ORIGINAL AeroPro Drive model. It set the standard for the 100 sq inch hoop size with the aero modular throat.

And for the record I don’t understand your logic you said it’s not part of the aero series course it is called an aero tour. That would be like me saying the new pure aero is not part of the old air pro driveline really it’s j that simple It doesn’t make sense what you said. The fact is is that this first aero tour was the first Aero Aero. The end. And it’s gorgeous this is the hardest aero hottest Aero Aero I have ever seen the aero modular Beam is gorgeous around the hoop it’s a shame that this one did not take off

I think the differences between the Aero Tour, the AeroPro Drive, and the Pure Aero are quite significant, both visually and play wise.

If you think the AeroPro Drive models are similar to the Aero Tour models or the Pure Aero models then it seems you and I play differently.

Certainly, the AERO marketing concept was derived in 2003, three years before the APDO was released. But the first AeroPro Drive was released in 2005-2006 and the final AeroPro Drive ceased being manufactured in 2015.

Any idea what is going on with this frame? I'm very meticulous about my frames and I noticed this when I was preparing to string. I'm thinking it is a crack, but I'm wondering if it is a surface paint thing or deeper? Any idea?

All of my Aero Tours have the same issue with what looks like hairline cracks or scratches in the throat area. They all run in the same vertical direction. It seems to be more of a paint issue than a structural one. It hasn't had any effect on the playability of the racquets over the past couple years and I've strung them dozens of times without any problems. I too was a little concerned at first but then just ignored it. The paint on the Aeros aren't exactly durable and chip very easily. The colors also noticeably fade, and the red striping on the Aero Tours now look very pink on my racquets.

@DrewRafter8 As mentioned by the other forum members, this is more of a fading of the paint as opposed to a crack. If you are feeling a difference in the playability you can always send the racquet to our warranty department for evaluation. From what I'm seeing though, it's more cosmetic than anything.

Keep us updated if it worsens or effects your play. Thanks!

Well done this is an unbelievable find find. Does anyone know where I can pick one of these up?
My buddy used to use that frame. I believe he still has them lying around. If interested, I can ping him about it.

I'm not 100%, but I think they were the oversize version.

This is what I'm hoping. What concerned me was when I could actually dig into the crack with my fingernail. I thought it might just be a paint issue. Let's hope that!

Josh & Sean,

Someone asked me if I had an email for Babolat in CO . I don't , so any chance you could look at pics of a Babolat Serial Number from picture emailed to you and verify the authenticity of the frame ?

It is a former collegiate player asking. The whole family uses Babolat frames.

If you can PM me an email address , I will pass to him if you wouldn't mind looking for him.

Thank you in advance.

2014 Pure Strike PJ. Also, no stencil. I noticed that frame too when she was playing Keys today. Babolat will not give someone older PJ racquets so I am guessing she does not have a deal with Babolat.

I've been playing with the PS100 since they came out.....required a little tinkering with lead tape, but I've liked them. Down to my last two.......

clean the area with a dry cloth everytime after a session.
It will fix that.

This is the one (edit left quote out- the red black 2014 18x20) is the one that Thiem plays with as well, just has the "2017 PJ", oh and a lot of lead
I was told Thiem uses the Pure strike , project one. the real one. that frame was made for Thiem, it is like perfect racket for him by babolat

Not that I am aware of at this time...
Why is that ? players that prefer lighter rackets like team and lite often prefer longer racket for extra reach. and problem with making the regular frame like pure Aero increases swingweight drastically when extra 0.5 inch is added. and this problem can be alleviated if Lite or Team version is made into extra long version.
