Bonjour from Babolat

hi Daniel,

my latest discovery...since the application stopped working after the download of my 2nd hitting session, the Babolat Play app has been hanging up when i launch the app and select ANALYZE. i've rebooted my iPhone5 and it still doesn't fix the issue so i decided to try reinstalling the iPhone app. bad idea. i deleted it and when i went back to the install email to reinstall the app, i discovered that the iPhone 1.0.64 build for iOS is no longer available. so, i no longer have Babolat Play on my iPhone. i can't use the Pure Drive Play racquet with my Samsung Galaxy S3 either because I am unable to pair the racquet to the phone.

furthermore, i took the racquet out for another hit tonight and it recorded data but after i downloaded to my PC, nothing new showed up in my dashboard. somehow the Babolat Play app has frozen on me since Sunday.

email babolatplay@babolat.com and we'll get the developers team on it. Yay beta testing.

I switched the grip to a TW 1.5mm leather grip. Notciably more weight at the handle now. From what I could find, the TW grip is close to double the weight of the stock grip.

In other news, I have lost all ability to sync my data to my iPad or PC. Neither works at all. I already lost all of my data from my first session last week and it appears I am going to lose all 3 hours from today as well. :(

As previously stated, this bug is being addressed in the Dec 10 update. Some people are able to sync their data after restarting the device and the racket.

Daniel, you may have answered this already, but I cannot seem to find it amid all the excitement over the PLAY release. Has Babolat decided whether or not it will be bringing the Pure Control 95 to the US for release? If it is not available, would a special order be available, or would it be available as an option for the Collegiate Player Package? I just recently switched and love it. I'm playing the best tennis I've ever played with it, so I'm not exactly keen to switch. The Pure Strike Tour does look interesting, however...any word on how they could compare?
Hi there,
Just read your post with interest.
I live in the UK where we are lucky enough to be getting the Pure Control 95.
I own a pro shop and have been fortunate to receive one of the first demos of the PC 95, as well as the new Strike Tour.
I've been using The Pure Storm Ltd for a couple of years now and like you I love it.
I've strung PS Ltd, PC 95 and the Strike tour all with the same string and at the same tension and have been comparing them all for a week now.
Please feel free to ask me any questions?
What I will say is that the PS Ltd and PC 95 are very similar. I have to disagree with Daniel and say the Strike Tour is pretty different, sorry Daniel.

Hey guys, quick favor...

Do you like me being in the forums? Obviously we get into it sometimes, but overall, is this beneficial?

Internally, there are some questions about if the thread is too personal and tied too much to myself as an individual (i.e. too much Daniel, not enough Babolat). What do you think? I'm open to changing the tone, voice and approach if you think it would be more beneficial. I started this to make the brand more accessible, but if it's gone too far (you all know and refer to me by name, I meet up with some of you at events, some of us talk on the phone and email, etc.)

Candid feedback and constructive criticism I can show the powers that be would be much appreciated. Your responses will not affect future product tests, etc.

Merci.
Daniel,
I have been asking you questions about Babolat racquets for about 6 months and because of this I have sold about an extra 25 racquets in my Pro shop where we are based in London.
This is one racquet every week directly because of you.
This says it all really.
Many thanks your time, help and expertise.

Ok here's some Babolat Play porn... I got this on Monday while I was away on Business trip so i am finally playing with the initial settings now. It sucks that the day is not for tennis here in FL since the storm is here upon us but I will be testing some basics in my back yard until tomorrow when I should be ble to hit the courts

Strung with excel no overgrip 312g
Strung with excel and plastic on the grip (no box insert) 314gr
Balance 12 7/8 inch

It was quite easy to pair it on my Windows 8 machine and Nexus 4 running Android 4.3
Next I am going to pair it with Iphone 4s running IOS 7.04 and Ipad running IOS 7.03

Has anyone tried wrapping lead tape around the bottom of the handle of the frame for the Babolat Play to make it more head light? Has the lead down there affect your results?

Or what other methods have you guys done to make your racquet more head light? (Silicone and tungsten putty wont work)

Thanks!

More head light? Why? If I may ask...

Ouch, that hurts, and is absolutely not fair to those of us lusting for one. JK, enjoy yours and tell us what it is like when you can.

Hey guys. The link to download the Play software for PC/Mac is showing up at "404 Not Found."

Would any of you please direct me to the link? I've scoured the last few pages of this thread with no luck. Thanks in advance.

I have to say, I'm getting pretty frustrated with this interface. I'm unable to change the settings in the app, and I'm now unable to log in to the app.

I've selected "forgotten password" for some help, but nothing has come via email in the last 20 minutes. I figure that type of thing should be automated, and not have to rely on a tech sending me an email manually. Maybe Babolat is not at that stage yet with the product?

I just want to try this thing out!!! :)

I figured that might be the issue. I just emailed them. If I don't hear back shortly, I'll pm you my email address. Thanks so much.

By the way, I have a mac...not sure if the software or link is the same.

ok, you won't hear back shortly. :) they are probably slammed fixing bugs. :D

go to...

http://en.preprod-babolatplay.as44099.com/

scroll to the very bottom where it says "Get Set Up" and choose Mac. this willl download the widget.

Thank you, sir! I will try it when I get home.

hopefully it works and works better than mine. :)

my PD Play worked for 2 sessions and then froze up. i've emailed babolat but it's been 2 days and i haven't heard anything yet. ah...the trials and tribulations of beta testing. :D

The Mac page was a 404 as well, though the PC widget downloaded just fine (too bad I can't use it).

Also, I hit a few balls with the racquet tonight...there is some drill flash in the hoop. Not sure how to get it out without having to remove the grommets...

bummer...drill flash?

Finally worked. Found the email in my Spam box. I just missed it as the email only shows up a "webmaster." Finally, I'm all set up again. Thanks

Hey Daniel, what do you recommend is the easiest method to add weight onto the racquet, making it more HL? I want to add weight more towards the handle of the racquet. I have some of these magnet tape(the strips you find at Wally World and such which you can cut up and use as refrigerator magnets and such), would that affect the handle and sensors in anyway? I mean I have lead tape as well. But I would like your opinion on adding weight, given the technology of the racquet, as I do not want to skew results or anything of the sort.

There are a lot of good and sensible users on this thread, but there are half-a-dozen of you guys that need to stop asking Daniel 'silly' questions just to indulge your latest whim.
I'm not going to mention any names but I'm sure you know who you are, everyone else does.
He's a busy man trying to work for Babolat, answer all our sensible questions and oh of course live his life too.
So man up a bit and if you want to indulge each other start another thread where you can post each other to your heart's content?!

+1 completely agree

Beta version. please email babolatplay@babolat.com as listed in the email...

The really fine particles of debris that are created while the frame is being drilled. Sometimes it gets trapped inside the frame. Usually, you can pop off the butt cap and shake it out.

pop the grommets out when you restring. It's a little more work but that is how we resolved in the office.

Use lead tape for tennis per usual. Weight, string, etc has a negligible effect on the data.

BABOLAT PLAY UPDATE:

Remember, we are in beta testing. Not all the functions are open and we invited you to give us feedback as we value your opinion (and know you would be more critical). WE're for profit, so simply handing out $399 rackets is not in our best interest long term. When we're ready for you to write product reviews, you'll know. We WANT you to find issues, errors, etc. Please email them to dbecker@babolat.com. You are making this product better for every consumer.

Over the last 4 days, 120 sessions were unable to be logged (info via the server). This is a huge issue the team is working on.

When final consumers download the app, they won't deal with this pain that is Test Flight. It will be in the google and apple stores.

Apologies if some of the replies take a day or two, my team is on vacation (first of 2013) and I'm telling them to keep it to 3-4 hours a day from home max. And as you can imagine, we have a lot of feedback to categorize, analyze, and send to the correct parties.

Thank you all for being part of this process. We're making a better product for future consumers. The first one through the wall usually gets the bloodiest, but you're helping us pave the way for future technologies that we believe will change the way people experience, understand, and share their game. And hopefully tennis will grow. Just a little.

Very poetic! I'll be buying one of these and probably another device too

Hi Daniel,
I understand this, and I was not trying to be too critical...I was just excited to try the product (as I'm sure you understand). All of my issues have been solved as a result of mad dog, so I'm good to go. And, the good news is that some of it was my error, and not a lack of response from Babolat (I missed some emails from Babolat). I apologize if my tone sounded aggressive.

I may have missed this, as I'm not constantly on this thread, but is there any info regarding the Mac widget? I had no trouble getting the PC widget, but my main computer is a Mac.

In terms of feedback, would you rather I email directly to you or post on here?

PS- I hope your team enjoys their vacation!

thanks for posting this update.

sounds like this is the issue that's not allowing me to see my sessions. i guess it's not the Babolat Play app as i thought. now if i could only reinstall the Play app on my iPhone...it's no longer available to download from TestFlight. i've emailed babolatplay@babolat.com, but haven't heard back yet.

Im on Nexus 4.4 and no problems except that if you have other bluetooth device near by it will show up in the menu making it harder to select the racquet

The Play app works perfectly on 4.4 so far. I'll record another session tonight but the ones I have already recorded can be analysed without any problems.

Can any of you "play playtesters" guys do me a favor and do a session with just bounces off the floor like probably most of you do before the serve and let me know if your racquet record it as forehand, backhand or does not register it at all (like it should be IMHO)

Has anyone with an iPhone 5 been able to synch the racket?. I have the Testflight app, but it tells me there are no available builds.
