Boris Becker: Rafael Nadal Is The Favorite To Win The French Open

All I'm saying is, Becker would not have said that if he was still in Djoker's camp even if that's what he believed. Toni, on the other hand, is always objective on this sort of thing.
At 2015 Wimbledon Becker called Fed the greatest of all time and said he told Djokovic to play ultra aggressive because otherwise he would lose. Sounds objective to me.

Nadal's draw was relatively easy and he still almost lost to Dimitrov

a lot of reactionary posts about Nadal being "back"

let us wait and see

Well, at the 2016 USO, Djokovic had one WO and 2 retirements and still couldn't beat Stan in the final.

The poster that you are responding to is on "your" side.

Hilarious to follow exchanges between the members of the Vamos a la playa Birgade, when they are one-upping on each other in trying to be more faithful than the other.

Just proves that I'm objective. Whether the poster is a Rafa fan or not it is a fact that Djokovic had a WO and two retirements and still failed to beat Stan in the final.

I might as well say it's a shame tennis is not only played on clay.

Or id say it's a shame that the tournaments aren't spread over a bigger range various surfaces and different speeds (no carpet, not enough grass, no grass masters, not enough fast HC)

H/C has more than it's fair share of tournaments. Fast or not.

But clay precedes hardcourt.
Stop swerving.

You used the lack of grass masters to justify that they have only played 3 times on grass. And then claimed things would be different if clay was everywhere.

Grass is where tennis originated. 3 of the 4 majors were once on grass. And (fast) hardcourt is much closer to grass than clay.

Be glad there's as many clay events as there are.

It just proves that your fanboyism knows no boundaries.

Unuckily (for us), you avoid getting in the same situation with octrollina (that would be a comedy gold).

I didn't say Thiem would be the next clay court GOAT.

I predicted that Thiem would replace Nadal as the current 'King of Clay'.

The title is certainly up for grabs this year if Nadal fails again.

Sure, mate...

Are you still trying to fight the clearly losing battle that the H2H is not representative because it was not played in any kind of round-robin setting?

14 of the first 25 meetings were on clay. I cannot comprehend why this is clear tautology can't sink through your brain.
OMG! Nadal fans don't go on about whether the h2h is representative or not, it's Fedfans who do that.

Nadalistas certainly do go on about the H2H, although Nadal's loss in Melbourne did take the wind out of their sails momentarily.

We do not go on about whether it's representative or not, we just know and accept that the h2h is 23:12.

The only important metric of the Head to Head is how you fare recently vs that specific opponent. The overall head to head means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Federer nor Nadal thinks too much about the 23:12 h2h but how they did vs each other in the last year or two. Same with Djokovic vs Wawrinka or even Nadal vs Wawrinka. Djokovic nor Nadal aren't too keen to meet Wawrinka these days.

Exactly. And you're the one trying to draw meaning from it.

The H2H is what it is, if you're going to try to draw false conclusions from it, people will set you straight.

OK, it's a rivalry, I agree, if that gives some kudos to Djokovic. The rivalry of the 80s will always be McEnroe/Borg, no one even cares about the detail of their matches in spite of the fact that a few other players were in contention with them at the time. The rivalry for this era in Federer/Nadal, that is a fact whichever way you look at it.
whaat?

Fed/Nadal was a great rivalry but that ended 7 years ago. No need to live in the past.

For me Nole/Nadal is the greatest rivalry ever. All slam finals, most matches played, same age, went back and forth.

Robin is the first to beat Fedal at RG. Novak is the second to do it. I don't know if anyone else will ever join this elite club.

Soderling needs to come back for RG and make the Majorcan pregnant spider cry
This smacks of desperation. Sod did come back in 2010 but Rafa sent him packing 64 62 64 in the final to take his title back. Sod is too busy dining out on his meal ticket because of his historic win to comeback for another beating.

Who says? Right now, this programme is on SKY Sports. I have never ever seen programmes about rivalries between Nadal/Djokovic, Federer/ Djokovic, Djokovic/Murray etc.

the Nadal/Nole rivalry is widely considered one of the top in the Open Era. It has the most encounters, players of the same age, a lot of back and forth on who dominated who, and I believe it's the only men's rivalry where the players met in all four slam finals.

Federer/Nadal has more press but Nadal dominated that rivalry and the age difference is much greater.

OK, but do you have any evidence that it is considered one of the top rivalries in the Open Era?

Every single week they repeat the programs about Sporting Greats featuring among other sports, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal & on Sporting Rivalries: Roger Federer v Rafael Nadal. This has been going on for at least 7-8 years. So who is Federer's rival?
