Both things are true: Medvedev was robbed and he also deserves criticism

If you don't think that Medvedev wins this match if it was completed yesterday you're just wrong. Medvedev did not face a single break point for 3 and a half sets. He was absolutely dominating Hurkacz even in the set he lost. The fact that he was put on an outer court on the last match of the day in all likelihood cost him a spot in this years final. That's just the truth. That being said he played absolutely inexplicably horrendous today and there's no good excuse for that type of performance.

Why are there so many threads about Medvedev? There are no Med fans on TTW who aren't primarily fans of one of the big three and every thread about him is simply trolling. He had zero chance to win the tournament, he's out now and few in the world really care. That's the bottom line, let's get real. After his hideous choking in the AO final in January, it should have been a wake up call to the 4 people world-wide who are on the Meddy train.

it was equal situation for both players. he was not robbed.
Even after getting thoroughly dominated today he still ended the match with more points won than Hubie. The scheduling ****ed him no two ways about it.

Could say the same with Kyrgios threads tbh

I agree that Med should not have been bunted to Court 2. Either Centre Court or Court 1 would have worked ok and he may well have won the match.
The loss of the 2nd set cost him this match and a spot in the quarter-final (I didn't have him down to make the Final anyway). He had a chance to potentially close out in straights and get off the court before the rain started.
But Hurkacz hadn't even played on any of the show courts before then - 1 equalizer. (Court 2 is a show court by the way, not an outer court - it's just not on the same level as Centre or Court 1 because it's a bit smaller and it's missing a roof)

Excellent post. The Medvedev who came today was a different player altogether. He was destroying HH and today he could barely do anything.
Medvedev as world #2 got shafted BIG TIME by the organizers. They got what they wanted and he is out.
I was RIGHT on both counts. I predicted Med would play for 2 days. I also predicted Med could lose to HH when everyone thought he would be in the QF.
What Wimbledon has done to a #2 seed is a strain on the sanctity of the sport. This is not justified and completely unfair. But yeah, you lose to the big establishment.

Your 2nd point is also true. Medvedev did NOT perform when it mattered. He has NOT shown the strength to fight against adversity. Very disappointing. He allowed himself to be crushed by the Big establishment and Wimby organizers.

I agree with OP.

Medvedev would have won had the match continued on court two.

But he should now ask himself why he, someone who has played 2 Slam finals, wasn't the one who come out fearless and with a game plan on CC today.
He must have known from yesterday's last 30 min of play that Hurkacz was about to change tactics and take the match to forecourt.

I am sure he would have won if they had scheduled it properly. But Medvedev really really needs to ask himself why he wasn't the steady one coming out of the locker room today.

When did all the Fed trolls become such whiny victims? I'm making a thread about the second best player in the world and the response is no one actually cares about him this must be about Federer. Grow up.
This TTW board is getting worse every day. Everything is ALL ABOUT Federer. Most of the rabid Fed fans are super nasty and they dominate every single thread.
Every topic of discussion is made about Fed even if it has nothing to do with the Swiss player. It's hard to even try to support other players because no one will let you do that over here.
Honestly in my experience the Novak and Nadal fans on TTW are FAR BETTER than the Fed fans. They are generally amiable and open to discussion.

Agreed. There are good Fed fans but they are a much smaller percentage of the whole fanbase compared to the Djokodal fanbases. Honestly, though GPPD has been a bit of toxic waste bin ever since RG. Most of the good Nadal fans are taking a break and the ones that haven't are understandably frustrated and have been lashing out with more trolling. Hopefully, after Wimbledon this place will become less of a cesspool but that's really unlikely if we get a Fedovic final. The thing about Fed trolls (separate from fans whom I like/respect) is that right now there's never anything positive that they will ever post. It's either Fed won and it's not because he was good or that it was a good match it's he's old and his opponent should be ashamed of how much he sucks, and if Fed loses it's like oh at least that player's not so absolutely worthless that he lost to a 40 year old (like Fed is just some guy). They also always call Fed 40 lol and I saw some Fed fans calling Djokovic 35 too haha. No matter what happens they can't be pleased and will just **** on their own guy and his opponents and the field in general. Please dear god no Fedovic final because this place will be unbearable afterwards.

How whiney can people be?

Medvedev is world no. 2. But he was getting destroyed by Cilic for 2 hrs. Cilic should have won that match.

Medvedev deserves to lose today. Shouldn't have beaten Cilic. I am very salty about that loss.

Anyway, Medvedev should be able to adjust. He is professional tennis player. He didn't even want to wait for Roger match to finish yesterday. Shows lack of mental strength.

Say the Fed fans. Every SINGLE thread should be about Fed - right?
It's come to a point where even having threads talking about other players is OFFENSIVE to the Fed fans on this board.

That's a bold claim considering the guy never got past the 3d round at Wimbledon before and clearly is nowhere near as good on natural surfaces as he is on HC. That he already went 5 with washed up Cilic wasn't a good sign.

He has time to prove himself on grass so we'll see in the coming years.

Everyone bar Djokovic and Federer was unproven on grass and Med was by far the most proven on faster lower bouncing surfaces. 6 of the 8 QFists are in their first W QF.

You have zero way of knowing this. The only facts are these: Medvedev had the chance to beat him yesterday and had the chance to beat him today and got rolled.

if he had a hard time getting past Hurakacz, don't see him going past the grass GOAT. Federer would have seen him off. Fed's level is pretty high on grass that most of the next gen will struggle against him.

LOL @ everyone making excuses for Medvedev and saying that it's a shame the tournament didn't pander to him.

If he was good enough - especially on grass - he'd have breezed into the QFs no matter what court he was put on.

Guess what? He wasn't.

What does losing a match while winning more points have to do with the schedule. I could name a bunch of Fed losses where he won more points overall, like the 2019 Wimbledon final.

I agree with most of OP but we can't authoritatively say Medvedev definitely wins yesterday. Looking like it was going to a breaker at best for Medvedev in the 4th where he had already lost one earlier in the match. We shouldn't discredit Hurkacz by giving him 0 chance in a hypothetical. This dude can play on the grass and can push Federer if he isn't on his game. He gave Djokovic a great match here in 2019. He's a pretty capable player on this surface.

Do I think Medvedev wins yesterday? Yes, probably. Would I have been surprised if the same thing today happened yesterday? No. I actually thought pre-match that HH would beat him.

Breaks usually help the more experienced/higher-ranked/better player. No excuse for him to come back weaker from the delay.

“Everything is all about Federer” works in both directions though. Because for some people here anything bad that happens to another player is a big conspiracy to push Federer into the final.

Medvedev had better chances if the match continued. However he should have played better next day. Serve getting broken so many times shows unfocused player. It not like he lost by couple of points

HH had lot of chances even if their was no rain. It was 2sets to 1. So it wasn't the case that HH was totally loosing

Cilic lost after 2 sets up. To say that HH had no chance is to completely make the game irrelevant. one might be favourite but you haven't won until you have

Med himself wanted match to be postponed to next day. He could have completed it on Center Court the same day.

All Medvedev can do now is watch Hurkacz play Federer on CC with his popcorn ready. I didn't know Meddy has fans or am I missing something?
