Is that possibly the NEW pure drives ?? did she switch because she wants more power ?

I checked and Coupe Banque National in Quebec City is not being covered by Tennis TV and Tennis Channel Plus either. Curious.

that's what i thought, i mean im no racquet nerd like the others here, but it looked like a PD to me. i find it strange that she'd switch to that when she hits her groundies mostly flat. a spin oriented racquet like the aero line couldn't keep her balls from spraying, a higher powered PD wouldn't help her i think. i guess she'd try about anything to stop the slump lol.

Probably just a marketing change. How much difference could there be in her old apd vs a pd.
Looks like the new pd. The string pattern on the racquet she's using in the pictures skips the mains at 7 and 9, like the new pd. The old pd only skipped the mains at 8.

She probably saw the US finals and also lot of girls doing really well with new Pure Drive :).

I don't know about her but I have never been a fan of Babolat frames as I've always liked Wilson and Head frames and interestingly I've tried few new Pure drives FSI tech models for my daughters and I really loved it.

I have not liked the previous models that much but this new one with dense pattern higher up in the frame is a deal breaker for my game esp I've a flat game.Only thing is one has to be careful with the string selection as I felt better with RPM Blast compared with Hyper G on this racquet.

Asking about Bouchard is like asking about what going is on with some random rec player. Why?

I think the Pure Drive experiment was an utter failure. Big fail for Babolat IMO

Her serve speed was lower and she was spraying her shots

https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/eh-game/with-an-on-court-meltdown-reminiscent-of-the-2014-rogers-cup--eugenie-bouchard-exits-the-coupe-banque-nationale-022640841.html

" She wasn’t getting much on the ball; for the second straight night, her serve was nowhere near where it had been through the summer, when there were so many encouraging signs that the weapon that had let her down the most through 2015 was roaring back to life."

"After back-to-back desultory double-faults into the net, down a second break in the set, it was all but over. The first of those double faults came on a serve that clocked in at … 112 km/hour. "

It is interesting that there is so much chatter on a player that habitually gets eliminated in the first or second round.

PD has far tighter pattern in the middle, way better flat control in last several years. Witness Fognini vs Nadal UsOpen 2015, or Dreddy on any good day (though I remember someone saying he strings at 70 lbs). Lots of high ranked doubles player who need flat blocking control at high speeds.
Pliskova hits flat lasers, though she's taller than Bouchard to give them a little margin. The FST pattern seems to have made the Pure Drives Bab's most controllable high-power offering...

I was just coming here to ask what she was using in Madrid because it was definitely a PD or PA lite pj but I couldn't make out which.
I think she should use her PA/APD from now on.
