not sure if this was ever discussed in the movie, but during the part when bourne tells them to send nicky to meet him in that plaza and then he manages to escape the cia with her, why didnt the cia just put a tracking devce on her to make sure they knew where she was?

The bigger plot hole is getting people to believe some short non-descript guy taking on the entire CIA in combat and winning. You're not supposed to think when watching those movies.

it's impressive you've spotted that as well.. i'm also curious as to why the hudson river was so deep and clean when bourne fell in it. they know it's in new york city right?

well its a movie, you are supposed to park reality to one side and just go with the flow.. but you dont need to be built like arnie to know how to handle yourself.. many would have seen bruce lee as a short statured non-descript guy too.. i once watched a doco on krav maga, many of those soldiers didnt look like much, until they engaged in a fight

Watch the movie again. They were tracking her and new exactly where the two were until they went underground; they had a wire on her. That's why Bourne dragged her underground to a level he knew would block out the signals and make the tracking devices stop working. After he was done, he locked her in the basement.

That's when the CIA lost them, and that's why it took so long to find her after Bourne had left.

Thanks. But that's not completely accurate. A tracking device is soley for location - and will work inside a building; a hidden mic is just for relaying their talking.

CIA could afford to do both.

I hope this didn't ruin the movie for the OP. I still enjoyed the series - except for the stupid 'shaky cam' fight scenes. Ridiculous.

If I remember right, the CIA guys describe the basement they found Nicky in as a former bomb shelter or something like that, which was their explanation as to why they couldn't find her sooner. Basically, something far enough underground and with thick enough walls/ceiling would block transmissions.

Anyways, the point was they new exactly where the two were up until that point anyways. But, it didn't really matter. Bourne wasn't trying to escape with her; he just needed a minute to get information. So, he took Nicky underground so he could interrogate her without being heard by the others.

Then, he fled again and left her behind.

The bigger plot hole was when they (the CIA) found Nicky in the bomb shelter-thingy, she was eating string cheese. Where the hell did she get the string cheese from? They never explained that in the movie.

Oh, Bourne beat up a snack vendor on the way into Berlin because he was hungry and had no money, but didn't know where to put him, so he locked him in the bunker with his cart. Then, he decided he might as well lock Nicky in there as well; no reason to go looking for another place to lock someone up.

did you also catch the fight scene about 43:26 into the movie. there they were fighting, both CIAs. bourne does his signature and bashes the other guy's head in with a rolled up mag. the other CIA agent fall under the coffee table and there i noticed a tennis racquet. it's a wilson PS 88 by the looks of it. however the tie off on that racquet was on grommet hole #9. we all know it should be hole #7. where did the wilson ps 88 with tie off at #9 come from? is it a prototype? explain

You are seeing with a tennis player's eyes - logical but incorrect in this case. You need to look it through a CIA/Assasin type person's eyes. By having the tie off at #9 instead of #7, this created a slight imbalance in the equitable distribution of forces in the racket head. This is somewhat comparable to a coiled spring. All it took would be for the assasin to flick a switch (hidden of course so you wouldnt have seen it) in the racket handle that would unleash these built up forces and the frame would explode and release the nerve gas carefully hidden inside the hollowed out frame. In case the assasin had to operate in a confined area and could not be sure to avoid the effects of the gas, a second secret switch (inserted only in later models after a disastrous assassination attempt went all wrong) would snap the frame at the pre-weakened points near the top of the racket head and two knife-sharp sections would be released and wound the target. Typically they would be used to sever the jugular, but with some skill coudl be used to blind the target in both eyes, enabling the target to be apprehended and further questioned, and not killed.

Wilson's appear better suited for this, they tried it with Prince rackets, but it was laughable. I won't bother telling you the hilarity that caused.

Because if they did, they would have to write in how Bourne found it. That takes time. So, to keep the movie from running too long, they skipped what we all know happened between scenes.
