Brand loyalty

I have this friend who won't use anything but Babolat and Adidas. Just curious - do you have any kind of loyalty to a brand? (besides those who are sponsored. I feel compelled to buy wilson racquets but have no apparel or shoe loyalty.
 
Barricade II are the only thing I will ever wear on my feet with sorbothane double strike insoles. I have 5 pairs unused just in case, and rotate 3 pairs of used ones currently, if they stop making them I will just cry a bit and then play in bare feet - lol
 
i have had brand loyalty to adidas for a long time, but am currently saving to switch from Prince POG's to Wilson K90's

and might consider a few nike clothing items.
 
I've been using Wilson PS85s and Nike shoes. Wilsons for 15 years, Nike shoes for 20.

It's not like I'm not open to other brands. Recently I bought some New Balance shoes, and I used the Dunlop HM200g for a time and still have them.

Just been using what I like and what fits.
 
I play almost exclusively in nike attire (cap, shirt, wristbands, socks), except the shorts and shoes, which are adidas.

I just prefer the nike designs over adidas'.

And racquet-wise i dont really have preference - just so happens Wilson makes what i want - a traditional head-shaped, heavy, graphite-kevlar racquet.
 
Only brand loyalty I have is attire. I only wear nike...shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts etc. Everything else I dont care...I use KSwiss shoes right now but have used nearly every brand.
 
I wear only adidas clothing/ shoes due mainly to the fact that Adidas is the only company that makes a wide enough show for my feet. Somehow that morphed into only wearing their clothes to... go figure.
 
Will only wear Barricades, II's, IV's mainly. Clothing tends to be more Adidas than anythng else, just coz I like their styles/colourways. Used to wear a lot of Nike Agassi stuff but i was young & impressionable back then . . .
Racquets have always been Wilson PS6.0 95's as my playing weapons but I tend to buy a racquet 2nd hand, play with it for a bit coz I'm curious as to what it's like then sell it on. I don't always sell them when I'm meant to then. I always try and hide them from the wife so she doesn't get medieval on my ass.
Racquets currently playing hide & seek with her are - Fischer Pro One, Donnay Pro One, Wilson Sting, Prince Thunderstick, unused Wilson Tour 95, Vantage 95 and being delivered to my work address tomorrow are 3 POG midplus's and a POG mid! They may have to hide in the car boot (trunk for all my American friends) for a while . . .
She found the Yonex RD Tour in the garage (under some boxes), the Babolat Pure Drive (under the spare bed) and 2 Dunlop AG200's at my friends house (he doesn't even play tennis which she knows, so gave me a funny look when we went round to see him and they were lying in full view in his lounge . . .)

Brand loyalty is generally a self-esteem problem. Being "loyal" to the brand is almost meaningless -- what or who is one actually "loyal" to, and why? With shoes, clothes or racquets, differences in quality among brands are not sufficiently or measurably great enough to engender something like "loyalty." One becomes "loyal" to a brand because having that brand makes you feel a certain way about yourself, or feel that others will feel a certain way about you because you have it, and you are sufficiently anxious about how you will feel if you change, so you don't.

or mayby they just think that if it fits them and is comfortable, why change?

btw- addidas attire mainly (found some nike dri fits for $10 bogo) and barricade II's

no raquet pref. now, may establish as i progress
 
As far as apparel goes, I don't really care as long as it looks good and plays good.
For tennis racquets, I've played the Head Prestige line.
 
Nike apparel all the way! I have a Babolat, but my first true racket was a Wilson, so I might switch my loyalty back to Wilson. :)

As for apparel I go with Nike almost all the time except I have few adidas, reebok, UA, etc. but even all of them together arent even 1/3 of my nike apparels. For rackets I have used only 3 brands, But I use mostly Head.
 
The day I get paid to wear certain brand, I'll be loyal to that brand ;) otherwise, I see no point. I use what I like. Ive used 5 diff brands of raquets, and would switch now if I find a better feeling racquet. Shoes, I like the Barricades because of durability, but always thought Nike shoes are the most comfortable, I wanna try the Cages since they also have 6 month durability guarantee. Clothes, I like Nike dry fit t-shirts, diff colors; I like em because theyre simple, don really like the 3 strips on most adidas shirts. Shorts, any brand, I have Adidas and Nike, but are more partial to Nike, just a thing about personal taste.
 
I'm partisan to Wilson rackets myself, but apparel and shoes aren't really my thing. I'm using Barricades right now and switching over to Cage IIs for the new year, as well as using any apparel I think is nice :D

Oh, and I use Wilson grips and Bab overgrips.
 
originally loyal to nike and head, up till i was 13 i would wear everything sampras did including the air oscillates. Switched to the barricade series and adidas clothing around 14-15, so when the barricade 1s first came out. used to play prestige now i stick to my yonexs and dont plan on switching.

that's called style, and it's a very popular term in marketing... That's why Nike and other big companies hire sport stars like Jordan or Federer, they just attract people with them...
Nike and Wilson are the biggest companies in marketing department, i can't even imagine the percentage of their money that they put in marketing every year.

i don't care for brand name it's a quallity/price that buys me.
 
i suppose im "loyal" to head rackets, but before that i used wilson and yonex. when i decided to get serious, i chose a head racket and now i dont want to switch altho ive demoed other rackets. it just feels a bit different w/ other rackets.

i dont have particular loyalty to other equipment and apparel. ive used nike, wilson, adidas and kswiss shoes, regular t shirts or champion and cheetah - whatevers cheapest but good quality. with strings im starting to settle on prince because its cheap but i am still planning on trying gosen and gamma.
 
I always have my Prince balls, Prince rackets and Prince strings in my Prince bag. If it is hot out, I use the Prince hand grip. I do use Yonex Supergrap as my one Prince exception. Clothing I have no loyalty to any brand.
 
Dunlop racquets. Tend to buy Gamma and Wilson grips, Prince and Wilson for strings, but I'm not such a die-hard in terms of racquet accessories (dampeners from so many brands, cheap shoes regardless of brand, etc.).
 
I only wear Nike clothes(shoes, shirts, shorts and socks). Nothing against other companies, but have been wearing Nike for years. All of my tennis sneaks are Nike. I don't care for the flashy clothes and pricey ones. I wear the Nike dri-fit tees for the most part. Adidas don't fit me right for some reason.
 
I play with Yonex racket because is the one I like and have being using it for something like 2 1/2 years, if a get a couple of racket similar to my RDS001MP for free i would use those ones without hesitation :).

For clothing I use whatever i find on sale or on an outlet store. Shoes always has to be with six moth warranty whatever brand and preferably on sale too.

Yes I am a very loyal and picky person, I know...
 
I was a huge Wilson Prostaff Mid shoes guy. I would only wear those shoes. I thought they were great. Now they only sell the low tops and they are not for me.

The only thing I'm loyal to are the white Wilson overwraps. Love em!
 
I've only ever worn Barricades for tennis, and have a heavy bias towards anything else that is adidas. I'd also consider wearing the clothing specific brands like ST and Fred Perry though.
 
I'm not loyal to any brand, I like to try them all. IMO, every brand out there makes some good products along with some not-so-good products, and variety is the spice of life. I would never want to be confined to using only 1 or 2 particular brands (unless I'm sponsored, of course).

Just my 2 cents worth.

Couldn't care less about brands. I play the best racquet for my game and wear what's comfortable/looks good/best value. I do seem to buy Wilson shoes consistently because they fit well and last long.
 
I'm pretty much a Volkl guy. That and I seem to only use Nike Air Max shoes. The nike shoes are the only ones that don't kill my feet after playing 2 hours in them.
 
I used to only wear adidas, but now its all yonex: grips, racquets, bags, clothes, hats, wristbands, shoes etc.

I'm like your friend. I love Adidas and can't find myself to buy any other apparel. Babolat, is my brand for racquet and strings, and why mess with a winning formula? or one that you've grown used to. Head, just for my overgrip. Shoes, I wuold like to say Babolat, but I'm fond of Asics. Once Babolat comes out with some new shoes I might find myself sticking with them more.
 
I'm loyal to what feels good and fits well.

Whenever I've been a player or a teaching pro on a free list or on ad staff or signed an exclusive use agreement with a company, I've been fiercely loyal.

But if it's me paying for something and I'm not "SPONSORED", I'm kind of loyal to a sale rack, as long as the product is quality. I think it's silly to pick something on name alone....kind of like the poseurs who pay full retail for head-to-toe outfits. Weak.

That said, I use a Babolat PSLtd, so I got a Babolat bag, which is rugged and functional. I also love their shoes.

I lean toward the historic Italian and French clothing manufacturers, unless they fit weird. Diadora and Fila are great, and inexpensive, actually. Tacchini is the coolest, and sometimes it's even on sale. LeCoq Sportif is a brand I always loved as a junior (thanks to Ashe and Noah), and if you can find it, it's still very cool.

I'm totally loyal to avoiding Nike -- the WAL-MART of sports. No thanks, as much as I love Pete, Courier, Mac, Stich, Andre, Rafa and Roger.
The other stuff like adidas or UnderArmor ... maybe, if it's on sale or if it's something I actually need.

I have worn Adidas Barricades for years, and I don't intend on changing anytime soon, but the reason isn't for looks, it's because Barricades are the most comfortable shoes for my foot.

Other than that, I will wear any brand. I think that people look kind of silly when they constantly are trying to match their entire outfit with the same brand, especially when they are just practicing.
 
I always use Yonex rackets and bags and shoes and couldn't switch even if I wanted to, but apparel wise I don't care...

No brand loyalty here. Though, I guess I've been using head racquets for the past couple decades, though that's only been two different models of racquet!

I get clothing that's on sale and that I like. I'm not wealthy enough to dump money on expensive tennis outfits.
 
Yes, I do but it's only because I believe adidas clothing is the best value in terms of looks, fit, comfort, style and price.

Like others loyal to BIIs, I wear em because they work for me and I don't have to worry about how they're going to fit or feel.
 
I'm such a bargain hunter that price is what sells me. Nike and I have been pretty consistent but recently I discovered Asics Gel Resolution shoes and have bought two pairs. I've burned through both Asics shoes and decided on the Fila Alfa's because of their nice cushy ride not to mention I got them for ten bucks less than the Asics. I'll have to wear the Alfa's until the new Gel Resolution 2 come out and I'll see for myself if they are worth switching to. I personally like Nike because of their air cushioning but have discovered that other companies like Asics and Fila are catching up in the cushioning department. Since I'm not a sponsored touring pro there is not need for brand loyalty just loyalty in seeking the best deal and what fits me best.

I throw in a few Puma practice t-shirts because they make great casual stylish/fashionable kicks.
 
I think it is kind of ridiculous if people are loyal to a brand solely because of the name. I am a nike fan because many reasons. I've tried adidas shoes and they are just too solid and heavy for me. Their shorts are shorter than i want. Nike has always made edgy clothing so that's what i've always bought. As for racquets, sort of. I own lots of different brands but i have to say i've always gone back to a wilson.
 
I like adidas shoes and shorts, and nike sock, shirts, and hats. I guess I'm not "brand loyal" but all I buy is adidas and nike...both are great(the nike socks have fairy dust in them to make you run faster)
 
My screen name gives it away, I'm sure, but I'm an all-adidas guy. It comes from the fact that the greatest of all time, Rod Laver, is an adidas guy; they've also had many other great players in their stable over the years. I also think they make quality gear at a better price, and I also like that they're not the big American bully like Nike tends to be. (It's the Europhile in me, I suppose.) And their stuff just looks cooler and more classic in general. And I lean toward the "weird" end on the racquet side - I've been a Kneissl guy for the past 10 years or so, but I'll be going over to the adidas frames when they come out. I think brand loyalty is more about which company you want to align yourself with in terms of their image and how they do business; I also think it simplifies life. I cringe when I see guys with a Nike shirt, Head shorts, Reebok socks and Asics shoes...I can't even understand how someone could dress that way!
