Got the image from a friend. Here’s the upcoming pure aero vs 2020. Same as the pure drive VS, Babolat makes a smaller 98 headsize pure aero. The spin grommets is still there, as well as the aero throat. String pattern is 16/20 which is the same as last pure aero VS but no box beam anymore. Heard is gonna be 305 unstrung weight. Same as the pure drive VS, they come in pairs (however eventually retailers like TW will sell them individually at the end) Paintjob remains the same design language as the pure drive VS. Very interesting move for Babolat stop making the popular pure aero VS/aero storm and move on with this one. And will be interesting to see if players using the current pure aero VS/aero storm will be endorsing the new paintjob (FAA and Sock)

The big question for me is: Will they make a '+' version?

Kinda liked the PD VS, but not having a '+' version pushed me to the VCORE 98 + (which ultimately I'm glad I chose). But...I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued by the concept. 98 sq in, 16x20, thinner beam.

from a decade ago, they should bring it back!

"if people actually bought it, we would make it and tennis shops would demand it."

That is what I heard from the Babolat rep in my area (I trust him, close friend). That is why they made Aerostorm, then discontinued, then tried to relaunch with American Flag / Sock, then brought back in Aero paint job and now is keeping Aero VS name but getting a whole new frame .

That's a way to further beat down the dead box beam horse. It already had been stuffed into the fridge for a while to be honest.
Going into the same bin as all those frames that have a 98in² or lower headsize, beam width of generally 22 and below, average stiffness, MGR/I of 20.7 (± 0.1) so that it's not as depolarized as players' racquets of ye olde but still far less polarized than most tweeners. So like the Pro Staff 97, Ultra Tour, Six.One 95, Radical Pro, likely the new Prestige MP or Pro, Prince Textreme Tour 95, Yonex VCore range in general, Dunlop CV 3.0 F Tour, CX 200 Tour, Tecnifibre TF40 315g, and I forget some. You could add the Speed MP or Gravity Pro for 100in² frames; or the Phantom 100 Pro among others.

At least all these racquers feel and perform ever so slightly differently, but the market for such frames is so saturated that at least the box beam was a visual feature that helped make the racquet more noticeable. Granted, the AeroStorm did fit the aforementioned recipe, but it's not helpful to muddy the waters even further. I hope it plays well nonetheless. The paintjob does look cool though!

Another dud. We need to learn from our mistakes and learn from history. This is going to be a dud. And shame on babolat for releasing it as a set yet again. Wake up fellas. Babolat only makes one players style frame. Amd that’s the Pure Strike. These other wanna bees are just that. Wanna bees.

The paint job is great. It makes this racket standout from the black-yellow Pure Aero design, that's been here for so many years. I wonder why does Babolat sell this stick only in pairs? They don't do it with other rackets and even other brands don't do it. I know in pair the're both almost the same weight, which differs only about 1,9 g, but anyway, most people don't mind. It's like they know that these rackets will not sell good. I don't get it.

It’s a dumb idea. Let babolat know. History repeats itself.

Currently playing with v.7 Blade 98 with some nice flex. Super comfortable, thanks.

try to play a few years with one of these, and then let us know how comfortable do they feel in comparison to the stiff Babolats:

Wilson Burn 100S (stiffness published on tennis-warehouse = 73)
Wilson Pro Staff Team (stiffness published on tennis-warehouse = 71)
Wilson Burn 100LS (stiffness published on tennis-warehouse = 71)
Wilson Hyper Hammer 5.3 Stretch OS(stiffness published on tennis-warehouse = 70)

here you have some more Wilsons that are super arm friendly judging by their stiffness.

including:
Wilson Blade Team (stiffness published on tennis-warehouse = 72)
Wilson Ultra 100 Countervail (stiffness published on tennis-warehouse = 74)

these aren't exactly tweener / granny lines, aren't they?

You're really weird dude. I mean, you're bringing up racquets that I don't even play with. Let me mention one last time, I currently play with the Blade 98 with an RA rating of 62.

that's good for you dude.
but don't call me dude, OK dude?

nobody forces you to play with a Babolat dude.
but it doesn't look nice when a dude starts throwing opinions, which aren't proven and might be wronk, ok dude?
if you do at least slight research about the issues with arm, or what is being called TE (tennis elbow) or GE (golfer's elbow) you might come across information that it occurs to a variety of people, including those who never play tennis and never play golf, as one of the causes is repetitive stress on the arm, so a plumber who never played tennis or golf might have either TE or GE.
and actually some suggest playing with a stiffer frame might mitigate and prevent TE / GE.
to resume, dude, the matter is more complex then stiff / not stiff frame. For the rest you can research the topic by yourself.

I'm not touching another Babolat with a ten foot pole until they take people's arms into consideration.

stiff frames aren't for everyone, sounds like you need softer frames

I've been playing with Babolat 20+ years (at one point, big banger full bed @ 65) and never had arm issues

there are a ton of great offerings from a variety of brands, play with what works best for you

also causing elbow pain:
-stiff string
-poor form/technique
-weaker body

play with what is best for you

@Russell Jiang so that’s pretty cool it’s going to be 11.3 ounces strong which means that even in stock form it’ll have the weight of a standard Pure Aero And with only the minus most modest of tweaks may be a tiny bit of let it could be perfect so I’m excited

I’m excited too. The biggest down side on PDVS for me was lack of spin potential and the small unforgiving sweet spot. Since they actually kept the spin grommets from normal PA, I can see it’s gonna play good.

The only initial knock I can come up with is the 20 crosses. Do t you think it should have been 19?

I did like the 16/20 pattern on last gen PAVS so it’s not a bummer for me. And I believe the spin grommets will keep the frame spin friendly enough. However, we can only tell when we actually hit with it...who knows what’s gonna happen lol I still can’t believe they ****ed up on PDVS. I love the cosmetic on that frame so much...
