Damn.

7.8 in tennistaste, the review is in Italian but there is also a translated English version. He says it is the best babolat racquet he has tried.

Yeah I posted it earlier in the bab thread https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...-from-babolat-part-trois.589024/post-14178343
the VS is getting good feedback from Europe so far... looks like a good frame to demo

you mean swinging it in your house?
I actually was lucky enough to get it from Babolat almost three weeks ago. So I've hit with it a few times already, but it's a little difficult with the shelter-in-place right now. I snuck out today (told the wife I was going to the pharmacy, haha) and hit with a really good friend of mine that's 5.0-5.5 for a little while. Tennis is actually a really good sport (way of exercising) while social distancing, so I don't really see an issue with it right now. However, I'm nervous they're going to start locking the courts. Stay safe!

what do you normally hit with (racquet/ string)?

initial thoughts on VS?

I was thinking about that as far as playing tennis outdoors with somebody. But the reality is if your partner is infected and you are sharing the ball and you touch your face it’s likely that it will transmit to the other player because we all touch your face is so much while playing tennis

I've kind of been in between racquets lately. I was using a Pure Drive Tour, which I really like at 55 pounds with Babolat RPM Blast 16 gauge. It provides great responsiveness and controlled power. However, I wanted a little bit more control/precision. The new Pure Aero VS is a very solid stick. However, it definitely plays different than a pure drive. It is a lot more control-oriented. Even though it is built around being the controlled version of the standard Pure Aero, it still packs a punch with the right technique, and rewards you when you strike the ball in the decently-sized sweet spot. Though it is a lighter weight racquet, it does provide pretty excellent stability for an 11.3oz. stick with a 320-ish swing weight. I strung mine up with RPM Blast 16 gauge at 52 pounds. To be honest, I feel like this might be a little too tight for the current set-up, but it still worked really well. I would recommend high 40s to 50 pounds. Overall, this stick plays pretty great in stock, but I feel would truly shine with some slight customization to up the swing weight just a tad. With a little more weight, I think slightly tighter tensions would be more doable. Great stick! Can't wait to hit the courts again soon!

What part don't you agree with?
had a giggle....
:-D
suppose not everyone is as weak as you think they are.... otherwise there will be no updates/new products
your stiff might not be the same as someone's stiff.....

definitely very tempting - could you please also compare against 2016 PAT?

(btw.... is your arm broken? ;) )

interesting... prior to current setup: PS 3rd gen with reverse hybrid, I played PAT with RPM 17 @48 lbs*

looking forward to your thoughts on the VS as you hit with it, keep us updated on string testing

once the courts open up around me, I'm going to be testing extensively

*cue OMG stiffness!!!!!! comments
my copy and past reply: not a problem for me, if you can't handle stiffness because of form/strength/stubbornness/wood racket love/etc play with something more flexible

Haha. I like a slightly stiffer set-up, but it really comes down to personal preference. I do play with the Babolat dampener (without the beads), but I enjoy the feedback. Overall, I think a lot of people think Babolat just makes stiff racquets, but I don't think so. I mean, most are firm, but I don't want to play with a noodle, haha. I think your string set-up (string, poly, hybrid, multifilament) and then tension play a huge part into the feel of the racquet. Heck, at least 50%. Just as a side note, one thing that is very important to me is that the racquet I play with doesn't have a completely dead upper hoop. In my opinion, when the ball hits the upper hoop of a softer racquet, the ball just tends to die, no responsiveness. However, on a racquet like the pure drive, pure aero, pure aero vs, pure strike, and many others, the upper hoop comes alive with the right string set-up and you can dig out a lot of balls that would just die otherwise, with other sticks. Just my thoughts though!

@Russell Jiang .. have you hit with this yet? any comparisons with the almighty pure strike?

Nope. Retailer doesn’t have 4 1/8 grip yet. But my friend in LA gives a very positive review on it. Since I’m living in San Francisco there’s no access for me to play tennis now because of the Coronavirus...

1. wow. cant you play out doors over there? 2. when you do get a chance.. please lmk.. again. i honestly believe the ps is the best 98" babo option out there.. so the pavs would really have to be remarkable to take that status.

I’m playing with the pure drive 107 right now and I love the racquet. Maybe looking fir a little more control. My set up is rpm blast in the crosses at 51, orgin at 55 in the mains. Do you have any suggestions for a different string set up. I thought I might try babolat gut and lux.

This will be a different frame from the pure strikes, suited for different players, can't really compare directly.
yeah. ultimately we will all have to be the judge here. after what happened with the pdvs im not so quick to tout the new offering. i have come to really love the ps over this past year. and the pavs would really have to be a diamond to take the 98 goat status.

I don’t think I’m getting the new PAVS in the near future lol I’m hitting very well with my og pure strikes. Might get a demo for a try if I can but I’m not switching to them since they so expensive lol. My friend said it plays way better than PDVS and this time it does feel like a pure aero with better direction control and didnt sacrifice too much spin like PDVS did. So if you interested in it and don’t worry too much about the money you should give a go lol

GUT and lux is really nice. I got a deal on Gut and RPM so I'm playing that for a while (or will once the courts open again).

For what it's worth, of my friends that play gut hybrid, it's probably 60/40 in preference of Lux as the poly.

I received the racquets right before coronavirus lock down, so I can not test them. I will send my feedback once everything goes back to normal, hopefully this year....

Wonder how much if it's own identy it will have compared to the std pure aero..
The pure drive vs was completely different from the pure drive..

In my opinion, the Pure Aero VS is a stick that has its own identity compared to the standard pure aero, but there are definitely some similarities. Most importantly, everyone interested in it needs to give it a good demo to form their own opinions though. As far as the price point, it's not cheap, but if you try it, you might just change your mind about the quality of the product being worth it. In my personal opinion, you oftentimes get what you pay for, but it takes everyone to experience it on their own personal level to form their own opinions. Just hoping to hit the courts again soon!
