I can't see competitive tennis starting this year now. It's been proved beyond reasonable doubt that it's risky, thanks to Djokovic, although I don't think anyone will be thanking him.

Oh come on.
The tour was a bad idea but isn't this the guy who fought and fought for increasing lower ranked players income?
Isn't he the one who arranged for that player relief fund?

Much cancel culture, no?
Taint the whole lyfe of a person for one mistake. A mistake that didn't have any malice intended.

DISGUST.

Might've been done for the right reasons (i.e improving mental health for people in quarantine type stuff), doesn't mean it wasn't extremely stupid anyway. And yes he doesn't deserve 100% of the blame since the rest of them are grown men too. Even the people filling the stands didn't have to show up, but he has to take some blame.

In fact, voting him off the player council is probably as light a punishment as he should hope for.

The circlejerk is on man.

Reasonably, this is the least of Djoko's worries.

Oh he definitely needs to be blamed but I don't see the punishment fit at all.
Don't even see why the ATP player council should punish him.

We'll probably see some even though it may not be a great idea (up for debate). The ATP will take proper precautions, unlike this disaster of a tour which was doomed from the start.

I hardly think being voted out of a largely symbolic role is tainting Djokovic's whole life. I highly doubt he'll receive any formal punishment of any kind – fine, ban, etc. Nor do I think he should. But he rightly deserves all the criticism he's getting at the moment and if players no longer have faith in his ability to make sensible decisions related to touring, professional tennis (not an unreasonable thing to think after the Adria tour), then of course they're going to vote him out.

I think Pat Cash should give him a spanked bottom in public.

Not sure why he should want to put up with those guys anyway. Just get out, demand refund, publicly apologize, donate obscene amount to Serbian anti COVID effort, after that anyone can go **** themselves, next time you win Wimbly, **** on center court.

So what's the punishment? Do you fine him? Probably so, in which case it shouldn't be pocket change to him. 1M+ at least. You can't make it like 10,000 dollars and say "look we punished him." He would laugh so hard he'd snort another 10,000 out of his nose FFS.

Is this just trolling? Who in the world is going to fine him and for what?

has every Fed and Nadal fan in TTW simply gone nuts?

The new Players' Council should be elected this month anyway. ******** has served 2 terms, surely he won't serve a 3rd term. Especially as his terms of office have been more or less a car crash.

See it was a totally stupid decision to play but how is he subject to any punishment by the ATP player body while he did nothing wrong while representing them.
Hello this was an exho okayed by the governments of the countries it was taking place in.
Where does the ATP come in this?

Criticise him all you want but he has done nothing against the ATP player council.

Voting him off the council gives him more time to focus on himself, and puts a big ol' chip on his shoulder. Good luck  He should be made to do MORE work! COMMUNITY SERVICE! MAKE HIM SERVE AS A BALLBOY BETWEEN HIS OWN MATCHES!

No one will risk giving Djokovic any ban, because it would be terrible look in case someone gets the virus when the tour returns. Giving him a fine is going to war against Serbian government, as he followed their guidelines and everything was done according to the law. Getting him kicked out of player council is the most they can do, but this is a big political statement.

So if we are to punish him somehow, how do you propose we do it? I mean, just for the sake of argument. In reality he'll get away with no fine and a public apology because he's Novak Djokovic and that's the way the world works. I know that, but for arguments sake, say he is fined, isn't that at least something quantifiable instead of just a mea culpa and a slap on the wrist..

And isn't that the problem anyway. That no one is actually going to do anything because he's Novak Djokovic.

Anyway, I'm guessing everything that was organized was done with the go ahead of the government so technically he can't be fined, unless it could be done by the ATP.

Stop being so reasonable! Find your pitchfork and let’s strap Novak to a Space-X rocket and banish him to Mars :p

I think ******** will be so embarrassed that he won't ever turn up on tour ever again. He will retire shamefaced because of the havoc he's caused enabling the spread of Covid-19.
