Breaking News: Novak will not play the Olympics

Yes, he should skip it but he won't, too stubborn at this stage and he won't listen to anyone. He fire Goran because he doesnt want a coach to tell him anything.
Novak should know at this point in his life, he needs a coach more than anything, all his experience isn't going to save him alone, he's beaten no top-10 opponents, won no titles, etc. He needs someone to keep him in check. Will probably get beaten by Leo Borg at this rate.

Got some news for you, buddy. Goran was already not telling him to do anything. He's just Novak's punching bag.

Djokovic has reached a stage where he thinks he knows more than any coach that he can hire. Only Federer or Nadal can coach him now, nobody else is in his league.

He needs to wake up on his serve too, all this talk about it being the best, Jesus is it godawful in the beginning of important matches.

If Djokovic is smart he won’t play it either. No chance he wins gold on clay with his level, his weight of shot was pathetic. clay will probably aggravate the knee too.
Agree, but I suppose Djokovic feels obligated to his country, Serbia.

Still, I suspect that he places the U.S. Open high above the Olympic play of Roland Garros clay, where he can't give his best. How can the knee-mending Djokovic escape tentative movement on the Olympic clay if he's centered on playing in the U.S. Open?

Then immediately awaiting after the Olympics, there's the hard courts and the likely sweltering weather conditions in North America leading to the U.S. Open, where the humidity and temperature can climb high there in early September.

At Wimbledon, Djokovic himself couldn't have planned an easier route to the finals. Could he have possibly imagined a walkover victory in the quarter finals over the injured and pulled out de Minaur, The Aussie, swift and determined, who was soundly hitting the ball the best in his life, would have set before Djokovic as an imposing obstacle that, projecting in the first week of Wimbledon, I doubted Djokovic would have overcome.

Then in the semi's Djokovic played and easily beat placid Rune, who continues to waste his extraordinary talent and athleticism.

And finally, coach-less Djokovic routed in the Championship finals showed that Djokovic, the greatest grand slam title winner of all time, doesn't know it all. He needs to dump his pride and hire a stern, strict coach who knows Djokovic's play and his temperament.

I have a suggestion. But if my suggestion were asked, I don't know whether Djokovic's former coach would agree to return. Can this former relationship be mended? I don't know that either. Yet, from what I know and have seen, Djokovic better call his former coach and offer and find out, like right now.

If Djokovic's former coach lets bygones be bygones and agrees to return, I expect his first strict, stern order to Djokovic would be: "You're not playing in the Olympics."

Besides, there isn't an eighth medal awarded in the Olympic games, and no wheelchair matches either.

Just too bad! I know a lot of people got their false hope up! So what country would Dennis play for? Whatever country must put its disappointment aside!

Djokovic has lost his mind and his decline has been evident.

Alcaraz could teach him two or three tricks and also with a jovial smile.

His serve was very good in the Wimbledon final. I haven't seen him hitting more 125+ mph serves in any other match before. Unfortunately for him, Alcaraz decided to return those big serves with interest.

Djordje Djokovic won't be playing the Olympics, so no need to worry.
