Breakthroughs!

So lately I've been playing quite a lot more tennis now that hockey season is over. This increased playing time has really given me the opportunity to improve and develop the different parts of my game. And lately I've been having these particularly odd but amazing moments.

The sort of moment I'm referring to is the kind when everything just clicks. You dont know how but you just suddenly get "it". I try it again, again and again and its everything is clicking. I smile to myself with a feeling of accomplishment.

HAHA just thought i'd share that.

For me its been mostly my serve, backhand slice and overall match results.

Anybody else have moments like this? :)

Congrats,
it's great as we hit these new levels with our games!

I just had a breakthrough moment too, and it was through a match I lost. Score was 6-1, 7-5.

Against better players, I used to overthink (due to fear of missing), counterpunch and wait for errors. But I would always lose because they run me around a lot until I cough up a shorter ball.

In that match, I counterpunched in the first set and got destroyed.

In the second set, I went for my shots decisively, taking my opportunities and hit winners at the first opportunity. It allowed me to breakthrough mentally and improve my self-efficacy in finishing the point in a match against better players.

I enjoyed losing the second set more than winning some matches against other good players by counterpunching.

I've won 3 matches in a row at the moment and I'm playing the final on sunday! I've won more matches this week than I did in an entire season :D

Feels great doesn't it?! It's called mojo, confidence, momentum, and it's the very mystery and reason as to why we play sports. Enjoy it while it lasts, but also remember to enjoy (or at least learn from) the bad times as well.
