British crowd: props to Djoker

I have to give mad props to Djoker.

I have not seen too many Fed matches where I felt he was not there crowd favorite, and definately not many where they erupt in cheers for his UEs.

Whether there are more locals because of C19 protocols or what, Norrie was the clear crowd favorite.

As a fan of Fed I have never been more irritated at a crowd. It did seem to affect Fed as well.

So respect to you Djoker fans. I could not do that every match.

The fact that Djoker hasn't gone ballistic every slam is a credit to him.

They were. Just rooting for their hometown guy. But as a Fed fan I am not used to being the brunt of it.

I can't tell if you're being serious or this thread is tongue in cheek?

The crowd were raucous and went ballistic at the end of the third, cheering Fed's errors and he had to wait to serve on set point. When he shanked the ball out, the crowd went nuts. That's atmosphere!

Even if that turned out to be Roger's last match, better that atmostphere than the silence of an empty stadium like some of the other slams.

To copy Steve’s post from the match thread, they turned on Norrie quite quickly didnt they? I found those cheers to be a bit patronizing in the end. Federer had overwhelming support in the 4-4 game where he broke the “hometown hero”.

To be honest, I think I would dislike 90% of people who attend Wimbledon in real life. That being said it’s a bizarre line they drew, cheer for Norrie enough for a 4th set but then overwhelmingly support Roger when the chips are down.

No I don't want Feds last match where the crowd is cheering for him to lose.

Fed will never abuse the crowd like djoker did in last match. The way the crowd was behind norrie...yesterday's djoker match was nothing compared to it.
At the same time, I don’t think anyone in the crowd was yelling obscenities at Federer, and if they were they would have been quickly shut down and admonished.

The treatment of the two players is night and day. Thus the reactions are obviously different.

Who abused from the crowd ??? Did they said " suck my ****" like djoker did in his native language

Yes, at least that was what the commentators intimated: “Djokovic seems to be upset with a portion of the crowd” - which to me reads obscenity or at least insult. It’s a bunch of drunk, privileged Brits - is it really that shocking to imagine they are cursing at a player they dislike? Have you ever watched a Wimbledon match before?

I’m not trying to defend Djokovic here either - just to point out that the crowds today and yesterday were far different

Are you really asking me to provide evidence that someone in the crowd cursed at Djokovic? Again do you watch tennis? have you ever been to a professional sporting event? No need to be so obtuse. It happens nearly every tournament.

Your hatred bordering on obsession with a professional athlete is sad and disappointing. Every post you and @tonylg make seems to be bringing Djokovic into things needlessly. It’s boring.

Middle-Class/Upper-Class British people like to act like to believe they are fighting against elitism, but let's be honest, they hate it when someone that doesn't fit the bourgeoise mould starts winning. They want some knight in shining armour, who is seemingly a nice boi.

Considering that, with a few exceptions, his every match is played, in football jargon, on the away field where crowd always support and cheer for his opponent (no matter who his opponent is) and that he still managed to win 19 slams, the logical conclusion is that the way NDj communicate with the audience is necessary and desirable.

Referees should learn the most characteristic Serbian swears and punish him if he use them.

Oh the keyboard warrior of TTW and typical Fedhaters are at it again. As if you have hosted so many sports events in your life..I have better exprience and knowledge of crowds at big event then some obsessed Fed hater trying to justify djokovics ugly action.

I asked you for proof and you were unable to provide a link or clip of it. If you don't have facts to back up your claims then keep your mouth shut.

Good to see someone understands that, when crowd is constantly disturbing a player then it's stressful for the player and it's unfair . It's not easy to win in such circumstances .

The hostility he's had to endure from crowds over the years makes his achievements all the more remarkable. I very much doubt Federer and Nadal would've gone on to win as much as they have under the same circumstances.
Cant say that fedrer or nadal would have overcome if crowd is against you but when you are supported that is positive pressure on you. Sometime overdose happens and you falter . Still i believe negative pressure is harder to handle.
never forget novak saying when people said roger i listen novak. Amazing self belief. Not as talented as roger fedrer but mentally on another level when stakes are high.
