Broken Tennis Shoes

Well I bought this new pair of Wilson tennis shoes last year, and for the first 6 month it felt like a pair of industructable feet torturing device. My toes usually hurt and my big toenail is usually destroyed after an hour or two of playing.

Since I am completely broke I just kept wearing that pair of shoes... and just when they start to feel comfortable, the top part of my left shoe started to tear up. There's a big hole on the top fabric.

I was wondering how many of you play with broken shoes and at what point should I replace them? It's too bad coz that pair is very comfortable to wear now... I even move so well wearing them.

I usually replace when i get holes (toe drag) or there is no tread left. sometimes when the tread is gone holes appear very soon after.
If you are totally and completly broke duct tape the tops together.
I would suggest Some Dynasty Spalding shoes. dunno if thats their name lol
but go to your local sports store, buy some "beater" shoes. 20bucks on sale.
If they dont have tennis look at the basketball shoes... sometimes they are decent. But definatly look at crosstrainers.
I have some Nike airs (er somthing like that) like 80bucks at Sports Authors (authority) but i dont wear them for the long practice sessions. I wear the cheap beaters. Save the airs for matches and such.

The soles of basketball shoes are suitable for tennis?

I've seen some guy wearing basketball shoes for tennis before...

This has been discussed before, basketball shoes are unsuitable for tennis.

absolutely correct. Basketball shoes are designed for different running motions, and extended use of improper shoes while playing tennis will greatly increase the risk of ankle joint injury, because tennis shoes have extra support for lateral side-to-side movement, whereas running shoes and basketball shoes do not, so you can twist your ankle easier. Trust me, I've done this with running sneakers.

This is just my preference, but I prefer Adidas or Nike shoes, simply because they are almost unrivaled. IMO, dont use wilson shoes; Wilson isn't too developed in the shoes area.
