Despite RG 2014 win ı really think something mentally gone after AO 2014. If not Nishikori injury he would have gone to RG without any titles on CLAY. For sure never ending injury problems not helped him as well.

you're never really going to 'recover' at this age to your peak, not possible for anyone

Maybe took a lot of injections to deal with pain - just not sure....

He said he was playing with a lot of pain the first day after practice in Rio. So it wouldn't surprise me.

Shame this is the match thread though. Bunch of Negative Neds in here with bad attitudes.

:confused::rolleyes:o_O

Just knew that Rafa wont show up for this.

Gave everything against Del Potro yesterday trying to get to the gold medal match today. Figured he wouldn't have much left in the tank for this one. Also, Nishikori is a very consistent player, so that makes it even worse.

How can any top 20 player be such sh*t it's beyond me. He is actually 5!

This era is so weak that I could make the top 10. Utter joke.

Rafa even said if this wasn't the Olympics he wouldn't have played, as he needed more rehab time on that wrist. I'm not surprised by this at all. He's played a lot of tennis this week, singles and doubles, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him again until the U.S. Open.

Nadal still ranked 5 is a joke and shows what pathetic ATP becomes like WTA. Rafa is pretty much a zombie player for more than 2 years now and still ranked 5.

I knew that semi would kill both Nadal and Del Potro one way or another.

I wudnt feel bad even a bit if Rafa loses this match. He needs to go back home and relax now. He did what he could've done for Spain and now time to look forward to US open.

First set down. Mon' Nadal up the aggression.

I dunno. Nadal's attitude seems pretty blasé out there. After the marathon he played in yesterday, I have to believe he doesn't give much credence to needing to play another match against the guy who folds like a cheap suit on important points. :)
