Brooksby is where CYGS ends.

I concur.

One thing is self-evident: Novak "Nole" Djokovic will not win the 2021 edition of the men's singles competition at the United States Open in New York.

Djokovic would be better off just getting this over and done with, by losing to Brooksby.

The alternative is a humbling quarter-final defeat at the hands of the highly-rated Italian protagonist, Matteo "the hammer" Berrettini.

How original, we heard the same thing before Rune, Greikspoor and Nishikori. Before his Wimbledon matches, there were 7 threads just like this.

I helpfully suggest you get a headstart by writing a thread about Berrettini beating Djokovic in QF; and, why not, Zverev doing the same thing in SF.

Brooksby did decently well yesterday, a few nice change ups in pace, good return, and didn't make too many stupid errors, but Karatsev made SO many it's hard to get much of a read on where the kid is really at. Novak will surely not offer him so many gifts, and what was with him getting a hip massage half way through the match? Is he injured?? His ability to hang in a rally is pretty impressive, but I feel like Novak's toughest test in this match might be from the crowd.

I like Brooksby but a Karatsev rematch wouldve been more interesting. At least we know Karatsev has the goods. Brooksby will make things uncomfortable for a set or two.

You heard it first. Now wait and see.

You mean like this one you made? For Federer v Berrettini Wimbledon 2019?

It is on!

Now just the final part of my beautiful prediction should come true. :happydevil:

Berrettini’s victims this grass season: FAA, Struff, Khachanov (x2), Kyrgios, Basilashvili.

Or this time we should expect a different result? Hey, if it happens though, then drinks on you!

Berrettini got injured then sadly and didn’t play a match until US Open. I have no doubts that healthy Berrettini stops the fraud.

Well, you made me watch...I was looking for upset the way you built him up. ;)

Everyone has a plan until they get played a 2-handed drop shot.
I gotta say....I've been waiting 30 years to see someone else hit this shot.......I've been hitting a semi two handed drive drop shot called "The Dead Ball"(named by one of my hitting partners} for lo these many years and have been saying to myself someone somewhere will arrive and do this right and expose it to the light of day.......Connors had a drive underspin shot he would hit into the corners and then try to finish off at the net.......I can on a good day whack this from almost anywhere in the backcourt and then watch this arrive with enough backspin to either arrive "dead" and die at the feet of my opponent or squirt away and watch them flail at it to no avail.....Now the fun begins when an unsuspecting tennis world has to deal with this anomaly.... Anyone else out there?

I'll give you cred for predicting the matchup beforehand, but sadly for you that's where it ends.

I hit that shot when the balls are a little old. Anytime we don't open a new can it's worm burning deadballs into the corners. Little harder with freshies.

It's a low percentage shot but it can rattle an opponent the second time they see me set up for it....and this guy(Brooksby)knows how to deliver it's weirdness....hope he smokes the joker...hahahahahaha

If Brooksby doesn't beat him, than Berrettini will. If not Matteo, than Zverev most certainly will. But if Sascha is out of luck, Daniil Medvedev will beat Novak Djokovic. And if Medvedev doesn't beat him, well... One time he will lose, for sure. And someone will be right, as he predicted the loss of Novak Djokovic.

I hope it will be Yugram so he can be proud of himself, it will make his week, maybe month even, God bless him. :giggle:

So Brooksby blasted Djokovic 6-1 in the first, and predictably has the entire crowd behind him.

If I was a Djokovic fan, I'd be nervous. That kid has no fear.

Brooksby´s Murray´s style of play sure is giving Nole some trouble. Even his grunts are alike hahaha

He doesn´t fear exchanging groundstrokes with Djokovic. That I think is putting Nole a little off

Two routine sets incoming. Was fun while it lasted but ultimately this kid has nothing to hurt Djokovic with and emptied his tank just to win one set.

If Djokovic continues to leak unforced errors on routine shots, the coming sets will be anything but routine.

Man, that was some call almost 2 weeks ago! Was looking pretty good after that first set too! Just ran out of gas. Hold your heads high Brooksby and OP!

As Andy Roddick tweeted ‘First he takes your legs, then he takes your soul’. Welcome to the big-time, Brooksby - you need a good serve to be an effective counter-puncher on tour.
