    OK.

somehow I managed to seriously bruise the ball of my foot. I can't walk more than a modest amount and can't run. The podiatrist says it's a bruised tendon.

    How long should recovery take?

tendon bruises are slow to heal because the blood clot that comprises the bruise doesn't disperse easily, as it's encased within the tendon sheath. Typically a few weeks or more.

I"ve had them.. on and off again, and it takes awhile to heal.. but I've purchased sole inserts.. the cheap ones and cut a hole in it where the pain in the foot is and I can play on it. I also use DMSO as an anti inflammatory on it as well.

6 to 8 weeks if you manage things right, closer to 6 if you are a quick healer.
