What the hell is a "match ball"?
Bublik should have given the poor kid some racquets, bags, caps and other goodies.

Thought experiment. I know, we're asking too much.

if you like experiments so much, can you provide the video of someone or something hitting you in the throat?
let's compare your reaction to the one you are criticizing so much.
or I am asking too much from you? meaning that asking common sense from you is too much?

I feel like we're entering flat-earth territory here. It's funny how Djokovic has moved on, and this incident will definitely not define his career (why should it? it was an accident), but for some reason others just cannot. Just remember, by continuing to bring it up, you are reminding us all what a bone-head move that was.

That ball was in play. That's how this differs from Djokovic's incident.
Still is almost a 180 km/h difference in the velocity of the two balls. The 12 y/o kid hit by a 215-220 km/h fastball stood still, the lady hit by a 45 km/h softball went down like she was shot with a sniper. I think that's what's bothering the most and why so many people find this whole situation very fishy to say the least.

Nothing less than flat earth territory, eh? I suggest a more subtle gaslighting approach next time.

perhaps there are some small detail that you are missing a fake Nadal fan.

getting hit in the throat vs getting in the shoulder?
getting hit by a ball that is in play vs getting hit between games?
ball kid is supposed to catch the balls vs linesperson is supposed to rest between games and not doge from incoming balls?

there is no need to be subtle when discussing such matter with someone like you.
Novak accepted that the punishment was adequate to the wrongdoing, why don't you want to accept it?

Still 180 km/h in velocity is a mammoth difference. Also not to mention that one is a fragile delicate kid, and the other is a strong healthy adult.

just like there is a mammoth difference between common sense and your postings.

I wonder why Novak accepted the punishment and moved on, while a bunch of internet trolls keep rolling back?

The Kazakh turned a tough situation into the nicest moment of the match after hitting his 17th ace on match point in his 6-2, 7-6(5) first-round victory against Albert Ramos-Vinolas at the Hamburg European Open. The 23-year-old rushed to the other side of the court to check on the ballgirl. Upon learning she was not seriously hurt, Bublik spoke to her for a moment and offered a match ball and a fist bump as a token of gratitude for her efforts.

lol, yes people get hit during the normal course of play sometimes

I love this thread - I thought Djoko’s fans had maybe gotten over his costly USO event, and I’m so glad to know they still haven’t

and yes Bublik handled this very well, nice!

Đokovic obviously upset at himself. Why the DQ? Really? Not his biggest fan, more a Sampras & Hewitt the rest of the gang. Up to you folks to demolish his reputation, reasonable doubt in tatters.

If he was wearing a BLM mask like Osaka this would have never happened. Or maybe some rooftop pasta commercial next time around.

The Establishment - Djokovic 1:0 after the USO. Watch Vajda tests positive on Covid just before the RG QF.

Poor Nole, going after the establishment was never a good idea.:(

Should have been DQ because he did not kiss her!

everyone on the court needs to be wearing helmets and protective padding
there needs to be a glass wall separating the court from the front roll seats
tennis is a very dangerous sport why are these safely precautions not already being used?

I guess because the tennis ball is relatively soft, it rarely leaves the court on a direct path toward front row or any other seats, people on-court are watching (in-play) the ball and can usualy move out of its way and so overall the risk of injury is very low despite your frightening characterization. Baseball on the other hand the risk is very real of some field level seat fan getting hit by an 80MPH+ hard ball and suffering a serious injury. So they put up nets. Eventually.

Baseball pitchers can get hit as can cricket bowlers and umpires.
