Bublik Blacked Out Racquet

Looks aeroish.

He should finally stop smashing rackets if he ever wants to get a good sponsorship deal again. Wasn't he fired by Yonex because of all his racket smashes?

Great idea to smash even blacked out test frames before maybe starting to negotiate on a contract later...

I'd say you can decide for yourself what the yellow and grey poking through the black paint on a 16x20 frame is

Yet another Aero convert... maybe.

What is it with this racquet ATM? I haven't tried it, but obviously it has some characteristic that other brands just can replicate yet.

Mind you, Bublik was testing the Tecnifibre TF-X1 305 V2 back the end of last year wasn't he? That's meant to be the TF version of the PA98 isn't it?

Everyone is getting a dose of the black magic. I’m surprised he didn’t try the Diadem Axis 98

The hype is real. PA98 does dirty things to the ball, with less effort. Why wouldn’t anyone take advantage, as long as they can play it pain free.

I purchased one and tried it last weekend, I was not a fan at all. Strung it with Head Velocity MLT @ 52 and it felt like I was hitting with a 2x4, zero feel and not enjoyable at all to play with. IDK maybe it was the string, maybe it's me, not sure but I played with a Pro Staff v14 afterwards and loved every minute of it, so much feel, comfort, and hitting the sweet spot made hitting so enjoyable. I may give the PA98 another shot while hitting around.

The only enjoyable part is breaking it - those things are so stiff that they break effortlessly.

It’s definitely firm, but it’s not a 2x4 like 70+ RA sticks like the pure drive. It has more feedback and is less plush, but is less muted than overly dampened sticks that use tech like VDM. Use a dampener if you haven’t already? Make sure your spec is as close as possible to the 305 gram, 31.5 cm, 295 sw unstrung listed spec? YMMV.

This is what I don’t understand, why do people keep suggesting that players try the Diadem Axis over the Pure Aero? Just because one player (Svitolina) switched to it, doesn’t make it a great racquet. She might have just switched to Diadem because of the money, but why would top players like Tsitsipas or Bublik switch to an “experimental”, brand-new model from a relatively new brand in the pro tour such as Diadem, instead of a well-established, popular model/brand like the Babolat Pure Aero? Why do people keep suggesting Diadem? Hard to understand.

interesting - he's pretty recently signed with technifibre and it seems they were looking after him. He is really out of form so maybe its just desperate searching lol

Or....... playing devil's advocate, could he be baselining ready to try a new TF frames in the works? (Not likely, but like when Fed started working on the RF97 range he also tried a lot of different stuff, just as he was recovering from injury, he could do it away from prying eyes and cameras).

Tennis nerd doesn't think its a PA98 for whats its worth.
ive never actually understood what this guy knows. ive seen him quote from ppl on this forum when it comes to identifying racquets. he’s more or the less the video version of everything talked abt on this forum.
im not looking to catch flack from his fans, i have no issue with him as a person, im just unsure as to what insight he actually provides

He uses this forum, stringers, former pros, etc. to provide information on rackets and strings used on tour.

It is very helpful and fun. He's a gear junkie like most of us except he has more knowledge.

i think thats what some are saying along w me, he gets most of the info from the holics here. most pros dont change things extremely often. maybe a tinker here and there but guys in this forum are so good they can spot things just by a photo. im pretty sure ive seen someone post a photo of a whiteboard full of players string specs at a tournament. then he reposts it. he reviews frames like an avg 4.0. i will agree his strokes have come a long way since covid. again no problem w the guy, just never seen something groundbreaking from him another tennis content creator isnt already doing

He's lost in the first round six times already just this year so this is a good turnaround for him in Pheonix. Bad for TF, as they've been using him in all the advertising this year (with Iga and Med).
