But Nadal Struggles Against Big Servers!

Raonic clearly must have been injured, or overwhelmed by Montreal's oppressive heat and humidity, or left his Xanax in the hotel leaving his nerves exposed to the Canadian crowd, because Nadal, unlike Federer, Djokovic or Murray, is a terrible returner. The only reason he is second in all-time return games won is because he lobs balls back into play and then "wins the point" from there. No, a truly great returner chips most balls back into play, while once in a blue moon runs around his backhand to hit a big return winner.

Parera's's paltry 18-3 record against the four best servers of the past decade (Roddick, Karlovic, Isner, Raonic) just shows how much he can't hack it against real men with big games.

I think this should do.

Nadal struggles against BIG HITTERS, not big servers. Raonic can't rally simple as that. Isner managed to blast Rafa in RG back in 2011 because he played the groundstrokes well. Janowicz gave Rafa trouble, Tsonga gave Rafa trouble, Delpo beat the crap out of him in the USO, but not Raonic because he can't hit the ball consistently. And Rosol...just Rosolized him.

Oh Berdych doesn't count, because you can't be a choker.

Well.. To be fair. If Raonic didn't have the ground game of a college player, things may have been different. He literally has NOTHING to back his serve up (not to mention his served looked like garbage yesterday).

Raonic isn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but hes still better than he showed yesterday. He should have contested at least ONE set

To be fair...if Raonic had the ground game of a college player he would never have gotten past Del Potro, past Gulbis, past Pospisil, and into the final. Raonic is ranked #10 in the world. A college player? Give it a rest.

People will go to any lengths to denigrate Rafa. Stop the hating. He beat Djokovic and he won the tournament---on hard courts---in spite of all the hateful comments made about him in this forum. People can hate all they want, but they can't change the fact that Rafa is a winner and is far from through amassing titles, including slams. I know it absolutely kills a big group of people in here to have to deal with that knowledge. They want him to just go away. He will eventually---but probably not until he has taken the overall lead in the all-time grand slam race. So hate on, haters. It makes the inevitable outcome that much more enjoyable to watch.

Vamos, Rafa!

It's quite clear Raonic don't have the big game yet. If you see the third set against Popsicle(Yes I call him that) That dude Milos rolled in a uber soft second serve just to avoid getting DF. His groundstrokes are not consistent enough. He can do the one-two punch but more than that, nothing much. Have you seen him pulling off a running forehand against Nadal. I don't remember any, I seen all of them going into the net or out.

He don't have the game to challenge the top 10. (why is he in the top 10? IDK. Maybe he learnt something from Wozniacki on how to over achieve) He over achieved at this point of his career. Even a ailing Federer will kill him.

I will take Jerzy over Raonic any day any time.

Don't know if this is meant to be sarcastic or not but it is quite true.

There is no good returner of serve today. There doesn't need to be.

The only reason he is second in all-time return games won is because he lobs balls back into play and then "wins the point" from there.

A return of serve and a return game are linked but are two entirely separate matters.

Realistically speaking it's never easy playing a big server. But Nadal does not struggle against big servers. He can take out karlovic or isner and so on.

Man, what an insult. EVEN FEDERER could beat him. Sick burn, right there.

Actually these days it is. Have you seen Federer play lately? That said, I think it's BS. Federer couldn't beat Nadal if Nadal had one arm tied behind his back these days. I THINK that's an exaggeration.

As for TTMR, he's being sarcastic. He's like that most of the time. It's his way of trolling.

we're not talking about your dating taste here

but seriously, I don't get this fascination with Janowiz (sic)

he's a basher with an occasional dropshot and slice!

I feel Raonic has more potential, if he develops a biting slice and works on his core to better connect his very long limbs and improve his coordination...

Jerzy is better than Raonic in every way but the serve, which is very close. He moves better, has more consistent groundstrokes, actually has a backhand, has a great drop shot, and actually has some decent shot selection. Raonic has a LOT to do in order to get his game together. All Janowicz needs is some more time and experience on tour to fully get confident with his game, but every part of it is there. He's only been on tour for a year so give him some time, but soon enough he'll leave Raonic in the dust.

I highly doubt it. the Jersey Devil is little more than a ball basher...

occasional dropshot and slice ? hah ! he has an excellent dropshot.

he moves ridiculously well for a man of his size and has both power and touch

potential wise, he's miles ahead of raonic, its not even close .

the one and only thing raonic is better at is the serve and janowicz's is not that far behind either.
