Buttcap Removal on Pro Kennex Ki30 255 Racket

I have some loose debris in the frame which I'd like to remove. Took the grip off the Pro Kennex Ki30 and discovered that the buttcap is glued (there are no staples) into the frame and was afraid to attempt to remove the buttcap and damage the frame in the process. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on how to remove the buttcap hopefully without damaging it.

Thanks,

Al

kinetic frames are supposed to rattle

I can hear the "sand" in the upper part of the frame but this is different. I have multiple frames and there is definitely something loose in one of them in the grip area.

Assuming since the thread is ancient that you got this worked out, but yes PK Kinetic frame buttcaps are a nightmare. They are glued and (at least in most of the examples I've done surgery on) stapled very tightly.

I have not yet succeeded in removing a PK Kinetic buttcap without doing damage to the buttcap itself. It's helped me understand that buttcaps aren't exactly precision parts (for the most part), and even damaged buttcaps can be reapplied and wrapped and you'd never know. But it sure would be great if all buttcaps were all applied with an eye towards maintenance, since debris and other issues do indeed happen, and removing the buttcap shouldn't be a destructive act.

I had some clay in my Ki10. Don't know how it got there.
On my model the buttcap was was mounted with short staples. The Kinetic chamber was glued in with silicone.
As I have no eqipment for shooting such short and strong staples I used Shoe Goo for re-attaching the buttcap. I don't know if or how this can be removed again.
The guy from Zerolove pre-drills holes and uses short nails instead of staples.

To remove your glued buttcap I would try a chisel or some other thick blade. Go slow. Maybe add some heat or acetone ...
Make sure the racquet is securely attached and keep your fingers away from the blade.

In case you destroy the buttcap: According to Zerolove Head buttcaps fit as a replacement. Read of someone who also used Prince model.

Good luck and please keep us informed.
