Looking to buy a new racquet...are the SW's listed on TW store strung or unstrung?

I'm looking to measure SW of different copies at my local pro shop. Obviously unstrung, with cardboard, and grip plastic. Any tips?

TW specs are an average of a batch of strung rackets. I'm not sure if they've mention what type of string and gauge they use from measuring, so to me, it is just a broad reference.

When I measure specs on brand new rackets, I've never done it with the cardboard on, so I cannot say the spec difference.

I have done it with and without the plastic. The plastic adds a little bit more than 2.0g, between 2.1-2.4g from my records, and balance is around 0.1-0.2 cm more HL. Swingweigh, more or less, does not change.
I would suggest if you do decide to measure, to remove the cardboard before doing so, to get a more accurate spec.

TWE has been known to publish the unstrung SW of a good bulk of the more popular frames. As for whether those unstrung SW numbers are manufacturer-derived, or actually measured, I'm not sure.

As for measuring unstrung SW yourself from frames at your local shop(s), I would see if they would let you remove the carboard placard from one frame in each model racquet, just so you could know how much SW the placard and placard string adds, then substract it from each placard-included measurement, to get closer to the actually stock unstrung SW.

Yes I was planning to take off the placard for at least one of them. So the machine will give me pure unstrung SW. Is there a reliable database that I can compare that number to?
