Buying advice: Did Nike shirt & shoe sizes change?

Dear community,

after not buying any Nike tennis stuff for about 2 years, I really want to get the limited shirt in celebration of Federer's eight Wimbledon title as well as a new pair of Vapor 9.5s. Unfortunately, I have a problem concerning the sizes and I hope you guys can help me out.

When I bought my first stuff (US Open 2012), size S as well as Vapor 9 size 42 (EU) fit me perfectly, it was not too lose etc. I then bought size S again with the US Open 2014 apparel as well as Vapor 9.5s in size 42.5 (EU), which were also perfect for me.

Then, I bought two RF shirts and the Vapor 9.5s from the Indian Wells line 2015 in the same size as before, and suddenly, both seemed a bit bigger than the previous products. Both the shoes and the shirts still fit, but they were a bit 'looser' than before. I noticed that at this time, Nike started to make XS sizes available.

My question is: Was this a coincidence or did Nike S sizes become bigger while XS is now the previous S? Or did I just have bad luck with a few 'wider' articles and Nike sizes are more or less the same now than before?

Thank you very much for your help!

I noticed that the 2016 RF polo size that I got in size M felt more snug. I was thinking that for polos due to the composition change from a smooth 100% polyester material to the new recycled polyester material, it actually got smaller. I will be getting the 2017 model in the next few days and can post to see if it was just a one off or if they indeed make their sizes smaller.

Thanks for your answer. That's interesting, as I had the reverse feeling (sizes being bigger now than before). But I'd love to hear from you once you get your new model.

So I got my shirt and unless it shrinks after washing, it looks to be the same length and size as my 2016. However, I noticed that depending on which 2017 polo you got, there is both a slim and regular fit. this might be the reason why sizing is inconsistent as much older versions, they only had regular fit.

Thanks for your insights, that's good info.

I think the RF stuff has had a slimmer fit for a couple years now, at least the polos do. I have two RF polos in medium (both have more slim fit), but the two RF crew shirts that I have seem to be in line with regular medium sizing.

Tennis apparel size seems the same as a couple of years ago, but today I tried a Nike tshirt in a local shop and it was a list a size bigger than the label said.

I know Nike changed up the material from 100% polyester to recycled polyester past couple of years and also made them more like weaved polo shirts as opposed to the smooth ones from 2014 and older. I haven't tried 2015 ones but definitely 2016 and beyond they did make them for slimmer.

Their sizes continuously fluctuate in a random manor. You can never rely on Nike to be consistent with it's sizes as too often than not a different colour means a different size and fit, which makes buying online before you try it on a bit of a gamble!
