Buying an old Babolat Sensor Expert

Hello all.

I have the possibility to buy an old Babolat Sensor Expert Dual.

According to seller it works fine but haven’t been used for 5 years.

It has strung up around 9500 rackets according to the display. Around 30.000 Traction Cycles.

I know it’s hard to say exactly, but what would be a good price for this machine? With this many rackets strung, does it still have life left?

That's super difficult to answer.
I've seen an Expert that was so worn out after 4 years. I wouldn't even have taken it as a gift.
If someone has taken good care of the machine, it can still be in good shape after 9,000 rackets.
It depends on what you want to do - just string your own rackets or open a business with it.
With these older machines, however, the electronics can be affected by the ravages of time - something can happen every day.
If you then spend a lot of money, it's doubly annoying.
I would treat myself to a new machine.

If you are set on purchasing this unit, you should at least string up one racquet on it to be sure that it actually works since it was not used in a while . It may have some issues for reason it was not used lately. Babolat no longer has many parts or service for it. If something like main circuit board is failed, you have a worthless item on your hands. Base clamps originally had issues as well. Many of those machines had base clamps updated with newer replacement ones. You should ask if this ones were replaced. If it was commercially used by many different stringers in a shop it may have seen some abuse.

Possibly @Rabbit will respond, as he has one of these machines. He was fortunate, as he was able to obtain one of the last sets of newer bases for this, and has a great operating unit that was evidently well cared for. Possibly he can tell you what to look for. Good luck

I think you have the wrong machine Jim. Op is talking about a Sensor Expert, not the standard Sensor Dual. Sensor expert has electromagnetic clamp bases, not the drop action clamp bases on the Sensor dual. I believe @Rabbit has the Sensor Dual.

I love my used Sensor. But......I wish I had waited and purchased a new electronic machine. Why? The newer models have tons more features. They don't rival an Abrams M1A1 in weight. The only thing I absolutely adore about my Sensor is the clamps. They are the best I've ever used. I'd love to find a machine with clamps as good. (When I say that, that's after the Sensor goes to stringer's heaven.)

That's really the best advice I can give. I bought mine sight unseen and on a lot of faith. This leap turned out well, but in the end it's always caveat emptor.
