Buying Nike Shoes on Clearance...

I am in the process of buying new shoes, specifically nike shoes. I have always liked nike shoes for a number of reasons, mostly because of my narrow feet and the way the shoe fits my foot. A few questions in regards to the shoes on clearance at TW:

1. Is it really important to get shoes that are current? The reason I ask is because I've heard that older model shoes (even if they've never been worn) are not as supportive.

2. Secondly, Are the more expensive shoes really that much better? I've noticed guys like Lleyton Hewitt (when he was with nike) would often wear the cheaper line of nike shoes such as the nike thrives and the nike air voltage shoes. Was this for marketing purposes and was hewitt probably wearing a custom-made shoe?

Where do you hear older model shoes are not as supportive?? Don't believe it. I have never heard that shoes have a shelf life. Sounds like creative marketing.

well, it's true to a certain extent. I general, older models aren't as well designed and hence not as supportive as current models but you'd have to go back 10 years to see that much of a difference between current and previous models. Then again, I think one of the best nikes I've ever worn were the first models, air challenge.

I think this has to do with the ankle braces Hewitt uses. I wear them too and it is impossible to wear them with, for instance, the Nike Breathe Free line. I guess that´s why he used different models that allowed him to use the ankle braces.

I bought the Nike Air Resolve... not a great shoe.

For on sale shoes, I suggest you buy the Reebok Upset DMX, out of this world comfortable, feels like the baracade except for much cheaper. Its on sale, good color, cant go wrong. its so comfortable, right out of the box, feels like the old wilson prostaff classic except more durable and more ventilation.

Weird, I bought Resolves (the white/silvers ones at TW) and LOVE them. Wide enough for my feet, lots of support and a pretty beefy outsole.

I also have a pair of the Resolves, great shoes. Very durable, and very comfy. The only complaint I have is that they are a bit too wide.

Victor, if you have flat feet, none of the Nike shoes are supportive if you need motion control. Maybe those ankle supports can control that bulging instep.
