Buying stringing machine in Pacific Northwest

Hi all,

I recently started looking into getting a stringing machine just so I can get down into the rabbit hole of trying different strings. I'm wondering if there are any shops that sell stringing machine around portland area (to save some tax)? Any suggestion in the Seattle area is also appreciated, just so I don't need to worry about shipping. For reference I'm looking at Alpha revo or Gamma progression II type of machines.

Thanks in advance.

What about the Rain Forest website? Don't they have a distribution center up there? Could be they drop ship too in which case you will probably pay sales tax. Only way I can see a no tax situation is buying used from another party.

Are you looking for new machine only or good used machine ok?

Took a moment to realize what "Rain Forest" website is lol. Unfortunately I don't think they even carry alpha machine at all.

I tried take a look at the used section but haven't been able to find one recently on ****/craiglist/fb market etc... Though I do worry for a newbie like me buying used might have a risk since I don't won't know what's wrong and what's supposed to work.

If you find a local machine, ask here for guidance. Basically it is down to [1] Do they have all the parts and manual [2] Is the machine maintained [3] bring a frame with you and a pack of string and use the machine to mount racquet; start mains; pull tension; clamp without slipping. If it works with perhaps some adjustments, then you are good. If it does not work, then you say "Sorry" and leave. Be prepared to negotiate. If they are missing stuff, ask here or find out if they can be sourced and how much it could cost.

@esgee48 mentioned good point above in [1] and [2].
Though I don't think you have to have a manual. Nice to have.

If machine has all parts\pieces, I don't see any concern getting used DW. This all manual anyway.
Some part may have wear or paint deposit, eg. rotary gripper, clamps.
You can clean very well and should be good to go.

Thanks for all the inputs, really appreciated! I'll stick around looking for some good deals. At the mean time I saw new tech tennis from Alpha's website and they don't seem to collect sales tax in WA so that's a pretty good price as well.

If you're in WA I've got an old dw machine just sitting around. It's definitely not the greatest, but it's functional and got all the parts.
