I'm thinking of buying a stringing machine.
I have a dropweight from gamma, but i'm looking for something better/faster.

I'm willing to spend around 400 euro's

After hours and hours of searching, it al comes down to these two models

Stringway ml90 with flying clamps

and the

pro's pro tx600A/TX500N

I string for myselve and friend for a small fee(string)

Can anyone help me ?

kind regards

I have been using the Ektelon/Prince Neos 1000 since 1983. I'm on my second machine. By far they are the industry standard for string machines. What makes them the best is the speed in which you can string racquets and the quality of the machine. Fastest mounting system, best clamps and ease of use, makes this in my opinion the best machine.

I'm willing to pay a bit more for a good machine, but i can't find a shop in the Netherlands that sells prince machines.

Hi,

I'm in exactly the same position as you but I'm looking at these two:

These two are quite good quality, Made in the UK and Made in Germany respectively.

The first one looks like a pro's pro pro pilot and costs in the Netherlands around 290 euros.

The second one is quite expensive and i think the stringway is better.

Well it's not a Pro's Pro, which is made in Taiwan. The S3000 is Made in Germany by Signum, the quality is top notch, Singnums X series however is made in Taiwan, and is similar in price to the Pros Pro.

I'm certainly not going to refute the much heralded reputation of a Prince Neos machine, but "best clamps"? I've never used a Neos, but I do know that some people prefer the Neos to other machines in the same price range, but that's the first time I've seen anyone say its clamps outclass/outperform the clamps of similarly priced stringers.

And if you're stringing for yourself and maybe a few friends, why is speed such an important factor? I can understand wanting a machine that offers more conveniences, ease of use, etc., all which may slightly alter the amount of time it takes to string anyway, but as a novice stringer, it takes me all of 40-60 seconds to mount a racquet on my Apex 2. If I were doing 10-15 racquets per day I could see where that would probably be an area I'd look at improving upon speed-wise, but at 4-6 racquets per month, I'm ok with it. From my experience it seems to be the weaving that eats up the most time, and no machine is going to help you improve in that area.

Gamma's are great too

Hey guys, glad to see you're looking at making the leap into stringing on your own machine. Get ready for some sore finger tips. I've been using a Gamma 6500 ELS for several years not. I havn't had any troubles with it at all. I posted up some pics here:

feel free to shoot me any questions.

If you have any questions about the ML90, let me know. I have fixed clamps on mine, but everything else is the same
