Cahill/Halep split

Shame, I really liked their relationship. Some scenes in the box after Halep finally won that RG title.

But they know what's right for them.

I know it probably won't happen but I would love for him to coach Denis at some point. He has stated on several occasions that he has a high regard for Denis and his talent. Seems doubtful that Marty is returning now.

I am very confused. All these superstar WTA players. When they win the Grand slam title, they dump the Coach..............Weird. I think they just don't want to pay that bonus money to the coach
Or maybe they know they needed someone to push them to get over the top, and now they need a different kind of voice to maintain their position. It's hard to keep going full speed after you've accomplished your goal, and it can require a total shift in attitude to stay successful without burning out. Often times, that requires a change to be made.

This makes NO sense whatsoever. You have a successful formula,,,,,,,,,,,you keep going with it.

It happens in team sports all the time. Even successful teams will let go of their coach if they think the coach's messaging in the locker room is getting stale. Because even if you're doing good or great, you can always be doing better.

It's all about getting the best out of a player. And even if something worked on them in the past, people change.

I'm surprised the dude lasted that long, I would have given up on Simona. But its true he probably needs to be with his family and @prairiegirl might get your wish, this could be a kill two birds with one stone kinda thing, going home to family but same time looking forward to working with another player soon.

Not sure how I feel about this. I thought Cahill helped her mental strength in big matches, which she definitely needed at RG this year. After 2 crappy slam results, I'm really hoping she can take confidence from her slam win going forward next year

They achieved the ultimate goal for her, winning a slam, so I'm not surprised it's a friendly split.
Only curious thing is he specifically says he's not coaching for 12 months. Wonder if he'll dive right back in, and if it will be with Simona, or someone else.

I hope she declines now. She sucks, is so boring, and now that she has her slam title there is no reason to possibly root for her anymore.
World No. 1/French Open champion/AO finalist Simona Halep sucks ?

I mean in relative terms of course. She is so boring to watch, her attitude on court with all the tantrums is horrible to watch, and she is arguably the least talented player to reach #1 ever.
Relative to what? She has been a consistent top 5 player for years & just had an excellent season. She is nowhere near the least talented no.1. I don't find her at all boring and while she sometimes has motivation issues I've never seen her have a tantrum.

The only #1s I can think of that could even be considered as possibly less talented IMO are Wozniacki, Jankovic, and Safina. I give Wozniacki the edge over her there as at her best her defensive game is at an even higher level, and she is more consistent. I give Jankovic the edge over her for variety. And Safina the edge over her since at her best she was more powerful and a more imposing figure to face. Just referring to talent so dont bother drumming with that she has achieved more than Jankovic and Safina, and another former #1 Ivanovic, which I already know.

And if she hasnt had what you consider tantrums on court you have a very leanient view of them. She has never had a Serena esque meltdown, but she frequently throws hissy and pouty fits on court when things arent going perfectly for her. Seeing her play live in Canada several years in a row, I can vouch for that with certainty, she is easily one of the most frequently whiny players of them all.
