Call for a Ban on Andy Murray?

The hilariously predictable anti-Murray vitriol is truly something to behold on this forum. :lol:I remember when I first came here last year hoping to find a tennis forum where grown-ups actually have a chance to discuss tennis matters properly. Now I just come here to laugh at you kids (apart from one or two of you who seem to separate themselves from the bandwagon).

I read the first 3 pages of this thread and haven't laughed so much in a long time. Talk about sheep leading the sheep...

Pathetic isn't it :(

There's a good chance Murray signed up (its money in his pocket if he plays after all) knowing full well there was <50% chance of him actually playing. Whether or not that's unethical is your call, but the TD has every right to complain. The suggestion that the TD needs to be punished is laughable.

The TD has every right to be disappointed, but not to complain in such harsh words out there in the open. Withdrawals by top players in minor tournaments occur very often, it's one of those things that a TD will just have to endure once in a while. Murray did nothing wrong, he complied with the ATP rules of withdrawing a tournament, so that TD fellow should have just kept his trap shut and dealt with it in a more professional manner.
That said, it is already debunked that he said the things that he was reported to have said.

ah, I wouldn't give murray too much s*** about this. the guy is looking in his best interest and he didn't really promise anyone anything. roger's done the same when he feels that he's been overplaying. i don't like murray, but i have to side with him on this one.

Geesh he sounds like a woman on her period!

I wonder what Murray has to say about this. Maybe this was taken in the wrong context. Maybe he was joking.

Murray can't be punished, he withdrew according to the rules that he signed on to, but his behavior and the behavior of the TD making it public (and probably assuring Murray will never return) are equally bad. Makes me wonder how other players feel about this TD saying things like this regardless of how they feel about Murray.

When a player does something outlandish and stupid in public, for all to see, of course a TD might say something. If a player is stupid enough to bad mouth a TD publicly, the TD has every right to respond, but this happened behind closed doors and it should be kept there. It's a no win situation and everybody looks bad (in my opinion).

I agree. It's irresponsible on the TD's part. If he's going to lamblast players in public other players may not sign up for his tournament, or second guess their decision to do so.
